I don't think that requirement is as a bad as it could be but I do see the point.

I think it's based on the book more so than the Snyder film.

So, they keep saying
Spoiler:
Manhattan's on Mars and "He can't look like us". The fact that they keep saying that so obviously, makes me think they're red herrings, that he's NOT on mars and he CAN look like a human. Could he perhaps be the Lord of the Manor House?

Yeah I've heard a theory that...
Spoiler:
Ozy is in some metaphysical Dr Manhattan created prison. The letters Ozy types are to Dr Manhattan/Lord of the Manor which is why there is hostility

I didn't watch the movie and I never read the comics, so I am kind of lost but still enjoying the show

Yeah she is really fantastic in nearly everything she does.

I am hit or miss with Regina King. Have liked her in a few things, not in others. I really like her in this.

Based on what happened in ep 3...
Spoiler:
Maybe he's on Mars? The Clone was in the Steampunk space suit and came back frozen solid. Did he go out into the Martian atmosphere or even space then was pulled back by Ozy?

Plus the "building" that was seen on the tv screen during the first episode talking about Dr. Manhattan still being on Mars looks exactly like the castle Veidt is in.

Just watched the episodes up till now. This show is pretty damn good as of now. And I just read Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross did the score, which I really dig. Not going to compare this to the movie cause the movie sucked to high heaven, and this show stands a chance.

Is it possible Lady Trieu

Spoiler:
is the Comedian's daughter via the pregnant Vietnamese woman he killed? It's been years since I saw the panels is it possible the baby survived? Dr. Manhattan could have helped since he was there and Veidt could have set her up with a family and stayed in her life

When they said she was Vietnamese, I was thinking the same thing. If not that one particular woman, then another.

At first I thought Adrian was on Mars, but last night they seemed to imply he's on the Moon.

Re: Watchmen (HBO) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 10/20/19

Powered through the first four episodes this week. I'm enjoying it so far and generally agree that Ep2 was the closest to what I would call a 'dud' but even then I still liked it.

100% agreed with those who noticed the excellent lighting of the black actors. First thing I thought of was that Guardian piece on Moonlight.

For those who didn't grab the vinyl soundtracks from Amazon, the first one arrived last week. The concept is that the music comes from a band called The Sons of Pale Horse, and there's a bunch of liner notes connecting current-day Watchmen to the comic. For those who like the lore, there's some good stuff in there about the Seventh Kavalry, among other things. I'm not sure if the details in there are in that webpage linked earlier in this thread.

I have seen two episodes but it seems like Regina King is in every scene.

How odd...

Would you say that about a film with Tom Cruise where his character may be central to the main story?

So odd when the main character is in almost every scene.

Let her be, she's fucking awesome.

Re: Watchmen (HBO) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 10/20/19

I've been catching up on this show this week and I am loving it. The cast is really great, especially King, Irons, and Smart. I was a big fan of Lindelof's The Leftovers, and I can feel a similar kind of vibe in the writing in this show--it really hooks me in.

Lube man was hilarious, I can't wait to find out wtf is up with him.

Tonight’s episode was great! Loved seeing some of the aftermath of the squid, and backstory on Looking Glass.

Liked tonight’s episode a lot. Hate to say it, but Regina King’s character is a bore. Glad she was hardly in it.

Love what they’re doing with Looking Glass. Setting him up to be Rorschach of the show. Assuming he survives the cliffhanger....

The whole 1985 Squid scene was brutal. I mean shit, I felt that....
