Star City of 2040 could be another Earth. Maybe it's Earth 2040!

I have no interest at all in the future timeline, honestly not even trying to follow it.

Zero desire to watch the spin-off/sequel.

The problem with any potential spin-off is that all the kids from the next generation are massively lame. They haven't done a single thing with those characters that has been interesting.

I’m so sick of oliver’s “I can’t let you help and endanger things life Squee” when literally everyone is threatened with destruction in crisis

So the rest of the season is all going to be promo for the crossover and the new spin-off? This week’s episode was a mess. As soon as they move to the future the show grinds to a halt.

Agreeed. My guess is they are doing this because the cost is next to nothing outside of Cassidy. Basically same sets, same location, etc.

Re: Arrow (CW) -- The 8th and Final season -- Premieres 10/15/19

Episode 2, and I remember exactly who I quit!

Why does everybody. Have such stilted and fake dialogue? Similarly, these characters keep making 5e same mistakes an don’t learn or grow.

“Oliver, you can’t risk the virus getting out like last time.”
”Don’t worry, I won’t. Because this time is different!”
[Insert unforeseen circumstances and virus gets away]
”wait, this wasn’t part of the plan. I didn’t know there’d double cross us!”

Then the exact same scenario goes down with the group in the future. Whoever they are.

Would never happen to Batman.

Plus, wasn’t this who issue with Oliver and lack of trust the main point of early seasons?

Also, I see Cassidy’s acting hasn’t improved.

I’ll keep watching, but there are so many issues. I do appreciate how much they’re using the episodes to setup Crisis and it doesn’t just happen. Hopefully they’ll dedicate episodes to the aftermath.

Supernatural seems to be doing a final season right.
Arrow not so much.

I've found these episodes more watchable than last season. They had let the cast get way too big during seasons 6 and 7.

This is has been excruciatingly bad so far. Arrow seems to be getting the Blade Trinity treatment. Their main character is being abandoned in favor of launching a spin-off their is no appetite for. Yikes.

I'm not huge on the alternate Earth thing but i realise it's going to be a big focus of the whole Arrrowverse shows this season

Is it just me, or are the fight scenes more brutal than before ? they have been Jason Bourne/John Wicked up a bit

Re: Arrow (CW) -- The 8th and Final season -- Premieres 10/15/19

The name of the spin-off has been decided: Green Arrow and the Canaries.

Katherine McNamara will likely be lead as the titular Green Arrow, leading a team of familiar female faces from Arrow. This is just a guess, but I suspect McNamara is the only cast member from the future group that will stick around.

Apparently Katie Cassidy is sticking around as well on the spin-off.

I'm enjoying the final run with Ollie, but I'll have to agree the future stuff doesn't do much for me (although Connor's brother is good casting, I liked him on Russian Doll)

I really loved the first episode, and hoped we’d see Ollie, Diggle, and Laurel hopping from earth to earth recruiting variations of familiar heroes for the Crisis war. But sad to say that second episode killed all the goodwill from the premiere. Hopefully things will get good again as CoIE gets closer.

I don't even know why I'm continuing to watch. The kids aren't interesting and once Arrow is gone so am I. If I last that long. It's not as fun. Flash is still ok. I like Supergirl. Batwoman is treading water. I miss Gotham. When will Marvel AOS 7 come out and will it be the last?

Re: Arrow (CW) -- The 8th and Final season -- Premieres 10/15/19

I'm not sure I understand all the hate for the 2040 storyline. I watch one comic/movie pundit on YouTube who also absolutely hates that storyline. Unless you simply just don't care about that storyline and wonder how the hell it even connects to what's going on now with Ollie, Diggle and the looming crisis, then maybe I see some of your point.

The actor who plays John and Lyla's real son (JJ) used to be on Chicago Fire. I think he's not bad. But I don't get how he turned bad. That's one of my confusions about what's going on. But, they only have 8 episodes, so I don't think they have a lot of time to go into it.

The Hong Kong storyline in this episode was fine for me. I like how so far Arrow is exclusively connected to the Crisis storyline and not going into Villains of the week or a non-related Villain story arc. I didn't mind seeing China White again. As the end teased, now Lyla is somehow connected to The Monitor somehow.

Agents of Shield's final season comes out next summer.

We've been liking the pre-Crisis setups (Harbinger for example and the PC guy trying to dial different Earths).

Any thoughts that Ollie's daughter is pulled to the present for the back-door pilot? Then Earth 2040 can get punted (those segments are almost FFable for us).

Yes, Ollie's daughter gets pulled to the present. Some characters may even get resurrected after Crisis.

Green Arrow and the Canaries? That's an awful name for a superhero show.

If Katie Cassidy is sticking around, why not just spin off into a Black Canary show? Once Crisis is done, I'm going to turn back time and watched the DC Animated Universe. Maybe I'll remember the potential of this universe and why I keep watching these awful shows...

It's hard to generate much excitement for that unless they are also cancelling LoT and bringing Caity Lotz back.

I actually like Cassidy but she’s not a lead. She’s just not a strong enough actor to build around.

I never understood the love the fandom has for Caity Lotz either...
Lotz and Cassidy both seem really terrible at acting.
