The cast chemistry is why i keep watching

The stories are often naff. It's not an action oriented procedural so it doesn't have that lure

None of the cast are ultra hot, but it's a nice pleasant show to watch

Plus, they both have baggage from their previous relationships and I think that adds to their connection.
She appears to be the only medical staff member at that hospital, b/c she handles everything.

The ones that look like that who get through the police academy become Angels not cops.

I thought this week's episode was one of the best

The prison scenes and the active shooter scene were really tense and well done

Hate the Ali Larter's ex hubby comes on the scene storyline, let Nolan be happy with her. The shit he goes through at work, he deserves to come home to some A1 poony

This was episode 18. Iím sure info is out there, but not sure if they finished filming the season. Seems like it may be on the bubble again too.

I will say, I donít feel like as much happened this year as last. For example, shouldnít there have been a fresh batch of rookies to mix things up? I do feel like the Captain being missing has detracted from things too.

Still enjoy it though and will be sad if it doesnít come back.

If Nolan moves on from rookie status, will they have to rename the show or will it focus on another newbie?

^Neither is necessary. Fans of the show won't stop watching just because the title isn't completely accurate.

I'd say there is a good chance, though, that new rookies are introduced at some point--if the show lasts long enough.

The chance of the title of the show being changed is, I think, practically zero.

I agree with everything you said. I was being facetious because I've always thought the title was a curious choice considering the show focuses on more than just Nolan or one rookie. I brought it up because the rookies must be getting close to the end of their time as rookies, no?

They were supposed to last year with the test they all took. Then I think Gray said they all had to stay back until he gave the all clear.

There was definitely a shelf life on the title, but it also does a great job of encapsulating the premise of the show in a way that a more generic police show title would not.

I think it makes sense for the title to focus on Fillion because heís the central character and the reason many people, including me, started watching. And I rarely watch police shows.

I realized what was happening when the female cop said "Armstrong" before he shot her, but disappointed the show felt it needed to go this way. It really likes blowing up its cast.

They set him up as having a dark side with a secret months ago with the female serial killer. The story dismissed it as just him cheating to catch her, but that didn't quite rise to the level she was implying he reached.

I hate to see him get blown off the show because I really like the character, but he was presented from the beginning as flawed and maybe even corrupt, so this is just maintaining that continuity of character.

I loved the episode last night and I can't wait for next week's episode.

Now I'm just wondering if Season 3 even happens. The Rookie was put into the timeslot of death and didn't completely tank, but it hasn't been successful, either. It could go either way. I hope the show gets another season.

I get it, but I am only watching two network procedurals now, Rookie and 9-1-1, so I am good with the casts just being the good guys. And I have liked Harold Perrineau since OZ, so I am sad that they have started his countdown to departure.

Here's an article explaining how the show will justify its title after Nolan is promoted:

Good episode, though both bad cops were pretty obvious. I like Perrineau’s character, but like how it gave the plot more weight not to have only a no-name rookie involved.

Re: The Rookie (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 9/29/19

Iíve said that guy was shady from the beginning!

Iím surprised they waited this deep to say this is the end of their rookie year. I was saying just as such after the last episode. Good to know theyíre at least going that route. The show actually has a lot of room to adjust the cast. Really the only character that isnít expendable is Nolan.

- Bradford could go off to NY with Lucyís friend
- Lopez get promoted and married; maybe drops in on occasion
- New partner sticks around, or has to move to keep custody of daughter because ex took a job elsewhere
- Lucy drops out
- West goes off with his Hollywood boyfriend

Oh, Iíd keep Grey though!

As for this episode, I still canít get behind scenes where the cops are rolling in with armed SWAT and they are just wearing vests with pistols. OTT.
