Never thought Griffin Dunne was much of an actor but damn, that scene in the car with Randall looking out the window was top notch. right in the feels.

I was initially bothered with the switch to Griffin Dunne for Older Nicky rather than "aging" the original actor, but he's really effective in the role.

Also interesting to see that Kevin lives in a secluded cabin of some type rather than being back in LA. Basically setting it up to be the new woman (from House) near Nicky.

rough ep... big fight looming, the demise of rebecca, toby on the outs.. the feel good stuff will be kevin meeting his future mate.. 3 second shot of future jack... and Dunner has been superb, but I think all the acting on this show is top notch

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 9/24/19

I believe the “random cabin” is the location we’ve seen from family vacations when the Big 3 were kids. Pretty sure we’ve been there too when they were adults. Also, how’s it inferred that the cabin is Kevin’s new home?

Im still holding out hope Kevin’s wife ends up being Sophie! We didn’t see the person at end of last season either.

Even if it’s not her, I hope it’s not Jennifer Morrison’s character. I think that was a nice arc and something good for Kevin.

It seems like there are fewer scenes with Jack Pearson this season.

Never knew people took out ice cream out from the carton and cut into squares like Uncle Nicky did

The Showrunners said that up front. He would be used in only a few scenes this season.

That's clearly one of those details that comes from someone's life, and they brought it to the story.

Maybe he was busy filming the Art of Racing in the Sun.

That sucks since he was one of the main reasons I watched.

Hope he gets more screen time in seasons 5 and 6.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 9/24/19

From TV Line:

Sophia Bush is headed back to NBC, via a role on This Is Us: The former Chicago P.D. star will recur during the second half of the family drama’s fourth season, our sister site Deadline reports.

Series creator Dan Fogelman revealed that Bush’s character will be involved in Kevin’s storyline, but would not confirm or deny whether she is the mother of his child in the future timeline, while speaking with reporters following the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

Additionally, Pamela Adlon (Better Things) will recur as part of “Randall’s very intense storyline,” Fogelman shared. “She has an unbelievable arc in the back of the season. She plays a limited but very important part of that story.”

Sophia Bush is hot. I’ll very much enjoy having her on a show I watch.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 9/24/19

This is the first time I’ve watched her in anything in probably over 10 years. So, with that, I will change my comments to incredibly hot. Her voice adds to it.

I also find it interesting that it was only announced the other day that she joined the cast when she was in this current episode. Usually news like that breaks earlier... unless I missed it.

Oh... and that ending. Creepy.

Inside joke that Sophia Bush's character lived in Chicago?

This was the first thing I've seen her in since she left the cast of Chicago PD.

Didn’t Kevin recently have a job offer in Chicago? Or was that a while ago?

The announcement the other day was that she was to be a recurring character ...but it seemed to be a one-and-done. Then there's the "Sophia" call, -and have we heard the last of Jennifer Morrisson. After all, he ends up with a pregnant fiancée in a few short months.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 9/24/19

That was one hell of an episode ("One Hell of a Week" - S04E11).

Randall-centric episode with support coming from Beth & Kevin (present), as well as Beth & Jack (past), with only teenage-Kate popping in and out a bit (and her big teen-angst issue is likely to be headlined next episode).

Loved the scene's with Omar Epps' Darnell... I wish that Randall would just bro-bond with him and make his life better.

Run, Randall. Run!

... oh, and this is the first time ever that I realized that Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth) has an "eye mole"... and that the young Beth wears a contact lens to keep continuity. Creepy.

Randall's dreams about the break-in were *so* creepy.

I too loved the discussion between Randall and Darnell and I need for them to have a bromance. They're both really good actors and they're playing super interesting characters. This is a no-brainer.

I noticed that right away, the casting person is amazing on this show, even these new batch of kids look like the older versions....

another great ep, this really is a stellar show...

I really saw myself in Randall this episode. I've had dreams like that too, where I'm screaming but no voice is coming out. The look of pure defeat he had when he got home from the hospital and dropped on the bed hit home hard.

Also stellar performance from college aged Randall/Beth.

This show is still running on all cylinders. Not a weak moment in this week's episode.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Premieres 9/24/19

Man, the Kevin episode was as good if not better than Randall. Along with being basically exactly the same age as the characters they're portraying, I see parts of myself in each of the 3.

Really curious to see what happens in Kate's episode in a couple weeks.
