'Dark Shadows' Sequel in the Works at The CW

The CW is taking another crack at Dark Shadows.

The network and Warner Bros. TV are developing a modern update of the Gothic soap, which originally aired as an ABC daytime serial from 1966-71. The new version, titled Dark Shadows: Reincarnation, would be a present-day continuation of the story, which centers on the supernaturally afflicted Collins family.

Mark B. Perry (Revenge, Ghost Whisperer), a self-professed fan of the original series, is writing the pilot. He will executive produce with Amasia Entertainment's Michael Helfant, Bradley Gallo and Tracy Mercer, as well as Tracy and Cathy Curtis, the daughters of series creator Dan Curtis.

The reimagined show would continue the strange, terrifying and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential and publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they've lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror.
Yes! Big fan of the original and most network TV I watch is on CW. The original had enough time travel elements, that they could really have some fun here. I'm glad its a sequel and not a reboot.

I'm still working my way through the original series, but I am glad that it's a sequel and not another reboot. Hopefully, they can pull off getting some original cats members, depending on who's still living, to reprise their roles. I'm not sure what they can do but recast Barnabus. I just hope they don't turn it into Vampire Diaries or something.

I loved the 90’s reboot and hated that it never got a second season. The original is daunting to delve into, and the less said about the Depp movie the better. I’m down for giving this a shot.

Only experience with the series is from the movie with Depp, which I didn't really like.

The 90's reboot was great. I'd give this a watch for sure.

forget about that. Give the 90s version a try or if you’re really ambitious, the original 60s show is streamable on Amazon Prime.

As for the sequel, they will probably focus on the grandchildren of David Collins and Carolyn Stoddard. That would be ok as long as they have older characters around. (David and Carolyn could be the new Roger and Elizabeth). They might even rebuild the Collinwood sets with modern amenities. That way they could use occasional footage from the old show in flashbacks.
