Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will no longer be televised

This sucks

The metoo movement probably ended this.

It was a pleasant diversion when it aired in late November or early December.

Where else can you see a pop star perform a ballad and a parade of half naked women would walk around him or her?

In May, the company said it would no longer televise the fashion show. "We are taking a fresh look at every aspect of our business – from merchandising, marketing and brand positioning, to our real estate portfolio, digital business and cost structure … literally everything," a press release from Victoria's Secret read."We must evolve and change to grow. With that in mind, we have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Going forward we don't believe network television is the right fit," the statement continued.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has long been criticized as a display of unattainable, unrealistic ideals of beauty. And Les Wexner, CEO of L Brands, parent company of Victoria's Secret, has recently received scrutiny for his close connection to Jeffery Epstien, who served as Wexner's financial adviser.

I liked the early shows where it was a lingerie show. Now it's a fantasy outfit show, the outfits are just ridiculous and not sexy
I prefer normal bra and panties

I liked the combination of music and the girls and it was not spank material for me

I doubt even 13 year old boys can be bothered to give a shit about this in 2019, just like the SI Swimsuit issue.

My wife and I would watch it. Sometimes we didn't care about the music acts, but we still watched.

Anyone remember the first time that it was online, 1999 I think? Pretty much 90% of residential computers were on dial up (I'm guessing) and it was about a 2" square video on a CRT monitor that was unwatchable because it kept crashing or freezing.

This would be a good thing to watch with the wife, just so you can turn to her at one point and say, "These girls are pretty, but none of them can hold a candle to how beautiful you are."

I wonder how long Miss USA will last in todays climate.

I bet Miss Universe will not go away since other countries are not as messed up as the U.S. with the Metoo movement.

Do you know what the metoo movement is about?

I wouldn’t be surprised if this has a lot to do with VS’ declining sales. It’s probably the equivalent of a large ad they put out, so it makes sense to cut costs. As an added bonus when I looked up that article, they now appear to have a lot of questions based on involvement with Jeffrey Epstein!...

This is all about jealous ugly mid aged woman costing young beautiful women who don't mind using their beauty to make money, their jobs

I'm serious, you take away jobs like modelling, promo work, beauty contests from young women, more will turn to prostitution/sugar daddying to earn money

Continuing to televise this would only invite more attention to this, and questions - and thus continue to negatively impact the brand.

(I see now Supes called it a few hous ago). For people who don't follow the links, VS's Wexner "gifted" Epstein his posh NYC mansion. Curious, no?

I know! If there’s one group of people in society who have gotten the short end of the stick it’s drop dead gorgeous white women.

The article misses what I've heard from a number of women who used to shop at VS... The quality of the product has bottomed out. One even said she got better made lingerie at Walmart.

The fashion show has been mostly bad the last few seasons especially last year's.

Or maybe she was just able to find the larger sizes she needs at Walmart

Re: Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will no longer be televised

I remember the first one I saw on TV was probably 2003 or 2004 and it was sleazier than the modern version. The camera would zoom in on the bras when walking toward the camera or on the panties as they walked away (just to show the product, of course). I remember flipping channels and finding it on one of the UHF channels one night and I immediately called a fellow dirty-old-man friend of mine and when he picked up the phone, I just said "Channel 34! Channel 34!" I couldn't believe they were showing it on broadcast TV and I was thinking some puritan at the local station would pull the plug any minute.

Very true. I was with my wife at VS last week, and it's kinda nuts how you can open one of those big drawers of underwear and almost everything you pick up is already falling apart.

I can't speak to women's lingerie quality but your wife is right, most mid tier name brand clothing is cheaply produced. Unless you are gonna spend a lot on something with expensive materials made in a first world country Walmart,Target,Ross,Marshalls,Old Navy,Sears,H&M etc. are usally better clothing options then some Boxed Mall Store where you are just paying for branding.

Does your wife just not have a BS detector? I can't imagine any reason I could come up with the wife for wanting to watch this with her that would pass.

The panties just fall apart when man-handled. Sounds like a great selling point to me!
