That's another good example. The drop in quality from season 3 to season 4 is one of the worst ever.

Damn I forgot about HIMYM.
i get why people say the Office because there was a major drop in quality, but there were a handful of decent episodes towards the end to keep me invested.

Seconded. The last couple seasons were painful to get through on the original run. That show really lost its purpose after 2-3 great seasons and should have been ended after 4-5 seasons.

Miami Vice - I absolutely love the first three seasons. The last two were totally unwatchable. Even today, if I see Tubbs with a beard, I change the channel.

Season 4 had some memorable episodes with Brian Denehy as the preacher, A Bullet For Crockett, Deliver Us from Evil, and Mirror Image.

I am watching the blu-ray and maybe there might be some other episodes that were good or decent.

When Jan Hammer left it did not feel like Miami Vice anymore.

Season 5 was shit and the finale was the only good episode.

Big Little Lies

Season 2 was not terrible but I think they did all they can do and there is nothing really left to explore.

That's a good one.

I was thinking of another F/X show in that era - Nip/Tuck.

Yeah, Rescue Me was a good one, too. That was one of the first shows I can remember was hate watching for the last few years just because I invested so much time in it.

Two and a Half Men should definitely have ended when Sheen left. They could have done the finale without him just as they actually did. Having said that, I wish there were multiple more seasons with him. That show was just too fucking funny. Even now when I run across a rerun I laugh my ass off.

This is more of a "wish they would have ended it sooner," but I would nominate Smallville. IMO, it jumped the shark in season 5 when Lana joined a sorority full of vampires. Of course, in later seasons, they totally revamped the show into more of a costumed hero show and it did recover somewhat. But it could have easily ended after season 4.

Re: TV Series You’re Glad They Ended

Both the original versions of Magnum, PI and Hawaii Five-O. The first 3 seasons of Magnum were incredibly well done, but by the 4th season the quality of the writing was getting stale. By the time the show reached its 5th Season, it just wasn't the same and all four main characters became caricatures of themselves. It was obvious Don Bellisario had lost interest in the direction of the show at this point.

The original Hawaii five-O could've easily wrapped up after its 9th season. The following three seasons (10-12) are almost embarrassingly bad and the final season contains some of the series' worst episodes, while Jack Lord suddenly starts looking his age.
