Fuck. What a punch to the dick. Poor Gordo and Tracy. Horrible way to go but they at least saved everyone. Loved the Nirvana at the end with the shot of Mars. Bring it!

This show is spectacular. Really underrated.

That was a great season finale (even though we lost two of the main characters). So we're jumping ahead, what, about another 10 to 12 years for Season 3? So will they age Kinnaman and the other returning actors? Or just have him grow a beard or something?

Who will be the president in 1995? Bill Clinton? My money is on Gary Hart.

The one female astronaut will probably be blind by then.

She would probably be dead in real life with that much radiation.

Probably. I know the guy she saved would definitely be dead by then. He was already prepping to die when he left the program.

Ross Perot? Al Gore?

Wonder if they would have the 90s president be someone NASA-related... Ed, Margo, Ellen. It would make sense for this world, where it's more space-program oriented than ours.

A great end to the season and a nice tease for the next. Can't wait to see where they take this show. Funny thing, I did not realize for most of the season that Ed's navigator was based on the real-life Sally Ride. I came across a post from A mighty girl on FB or something and recognized the terrible hair and first name. It's really cool how they weave real people and events into the series with the alternative timeline. I would probably re-up Apple TV for this series when the new season launches.

Yeah I didn't realize it was supposed to be Sally Ride either until the end.

They used her last name a few times when she was first introduced, but it was just offhanded. I really like how they do that - they don't make a big deal out of it, it's not an ostentatious "hey here's Sally Ride - you know, the real life astronaut!" They just weave these characters in seamlessly. Fantastic show.

I realized it was her the first time I saw her with her uniform on (either the next-to-last episode or the one before that). I'm sure they said her name before that, but it wasn't until I saw "Ride" on her uniform that it clicked.

Re: For All Mankind (Apple TV+) -- S: Joel Kinnaman -- NASA series from the creator of Battlestar Galacti

Well, the good news is they already started filming season 3 back in February! It would be great if they announce a season 4 before the release of 3 like they did for the upcoming season. But I think that would put them pretty much near current-day if they do a time jump, it would be very cool to see a future alternate history from the show eventually but with Ronald D Moore going to Disney not sure if we will see much more beyond season 3.

On a separate note, I really hope Margo does not get screwed over by her friend in Russia.

They've said in interviews the best case scenario is that they go 7 seasons and take the show up to about 2030.

That would be interesting. Just a guess, but the show would end with first contact?

Was there any significance to Margot going to JFK's grave after she talked with her Russian counterpart at the end?

I thought it was a coda to imply that they're wrapping up with JFK's initial vision for the space race and the boots on Mars signify a whole new direction.

I imagine it was to acknowledge that Kennedy's dream is fulfilled in case this was the series finale. It certainly could have served as one.

As the third season was announced before this season aired I don't think there was any danger of this being a series finale. I do agree it seems like a coda to Kennedy's vision for the program.

Re: For All Mankind (Apple TV+) -- S: Joel Kinnaman -- NASA series from the creator of Battlestar Galacti

Well that was a crappy end to the season.

I assumed Tracy was a goner for about half the season. Granted, I thought it was going to be the result of her carefree attitude flying around with the Marines. I did not think Gordo was going to not make it; let alone both of them. I wasn’t familiar with Michael Dorman going into this series, but he deserved some awards for the “Hi Bob!” episode in season 1. Outstanding work. Regardless, they’ll both be missed.

Ed needs to stay on Earth. Every time he leaves his personal life takes a hit! Speaking of, Karen...I knew it was coming because they foreshadowed it as loud as the nuclear siren...but still...eww.

Looking forward to season 3, but not sure where the narrative goes from here.

Re: For All Mankind (Apple TV+) -- S: Joel Kinnaman -- NASA series from the creator of Battlestar Galacti

Did a re-watch of season two.

Seems like they are grooming Ellen to be president, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's in the oval office come 1995.

This season really reinforced how scary the waning days of the Cold War were. I remember being a kid back then, and the threat of a sudden nuclear war was always this Sword of Damocles hanging over everything. Hearing sirens start going off was always one of the big nightmare scenarios of those days.

One thing, I really think that, if all of that shit was going down at once in 1983 (the downing of KAL 007, the Panama Canal situation, the standoff between Pathfinder and Buran, and the Soviets invading Jamestown), then Reagan probably would have pulled the trigger and started WWIII pre-emptively.

I watched both seasons recently in about a month. I absolutely loved it. It's a bit slow at times, but the season 2 finale is one of the best episodes of television that I have seen in quite some time. I hope season 2 gets some Emmy recognition. I'm really looking forward to season three.

Late to the table on this, but I am enjoying it. Joel Kinnaman does not disappoint. I remember watching him in the Robocop movie and his performance made believed he really was a robot. Nice to see him reprise his role.

Looks like they wrapped production for season 3 in September or so, the best case is we see this in March 2022. One of my favorites shows out there at the moment.

Got an Apple TV for X-mas and this was the first thing I watched. Went through whole first 2 seasons in the last week. S2 was a little too soap opera-ish for me, but an excellent show nonetheless. Really looking forward to S3.

I didn't realize it either until I saw 'Ride' on her uniform in the shuttle confrontation.
