Re: Reacher (Amazon) - based on the Lee Child novels - S: Alan Ritchson - premieres 2/4/22

Yeah I just took it that
Spoiler:
Picard had to go on foot without a phone and didn't get to the warehouse until shit was already going down. And Reacher was in a hurry to get back before the 6 am deadline, which is why he didn't chase after Picard.

Great stuff! Will definitely watch a second season.

Regardless, we know that Agent "Pancake" Picard will not be back for the next season.

There's no walking away from that.

I applauded that death, not because of the character but because they properly used the location

Wild interview by the lead on Inside of you with Michael Rosenbaum he once tried to hang his self and they damn near killed him filming the show from hours worked, own stunts, NSAIDS dropping his testosterone to 0. Wild.

Knocked this out over the last week, good show. Only thing that annoyed me (and this is a very minor quibble) is that even his mom and brother called him Reacher. Weird.

Obviously not going to happen, but it would be cool to see Jack Reacher and Jack Ryan have a cross over series since Amazon does both shows

Was an interesting interview, and obviously from before Reacher landed and got renewed. Glad he seems to be controlling it for the time being.

My wife and I wrapped this up a couple of days ago. We both really liked it. I've only seen the first Cruise movie so didn't know much about him. Just put a hold on the first audiobook at the library (Overdrive) - 6 month wait on 13 copies. He is a physical force, but kind of weird he was getting beat by one of the littlest guys at the pool. I was wanting him to hurt KJ longer but en fuego is good way to kill him.

The little guy did have a crowbar, so that helped.

I did like how he bitch-slapped the shit out of KJ in the restaurant.

Yeah, my dad--who has also read the books--commented that in the show Reacher's fights last too long. In the books he tends to put the bad guys down hard and fast. I said they have to make things more exciting for tv.

So that was Child Reacher bumped into in the diner in the last episode. Felt like a cameo so I had to look it up.

Initially that seemed like it was setting up something for the future.

That scene is pretty much a reshoot of Terminator 1, isn't it?

I was snowed in over the weekend so I watched the entire series - very enjoyable.

Re: Reacher (Amazon) - based on the Lee Child novels - S: Alan Ritchson - premieres 2/4/22

Took 10 days, but I finished it up tonight. I'm glad I took my time with this so that I could digest every episode and not have the entire season go by in a blur and then not remember things.

Overall, a very satisfying self contained season. Reacher, Finlay and Roscoe all got satisfying conclusions to their stories and now Reacher being a drifter can move on. I did feel the flashback to Reacher seeing Joe and his dying Mom felt kind of tacked on at the end. That scene would have been more effective in an earlier episode. The warehouse scene with the fire and shootout was pretty entertaining.

Anyone catch the Lee Child cameo? It was a quick one in the finale. It was the guy who bumped into Reacher in the restaurant.

For those unaware, there is some special hidden bonus material on the Prime app. There is an interview with Child and a making of featurette. You have to access it via Amazon X-Ray while watching the episode.

We just wrapped this up and really enjoyed it. Probably could have breezed through it more quickly, but we were trying to keep it going as long as we could!

I agree with some of the small items pointed out, but they didn’t detract overall. I think what bugged me the most was the crowbar scene. Guy pummeled on him, and then he takes a shower and didn’t really have a scratch on him.

Glad there is a season 2, but disappointed we won’t get Finlay and Roscoe.

Is anyone else bothered by how Reacher seems like he might be on the Autism spectrum? His overall demeanor is a bit concerning for someone that seems to understand and predict human behavior he is way too detached from personal relationships.

Also, my wife and I are distracted by how much he looks like Dexter on steroids. LMAO.

I like the show but I find the portrayal a little odd compared to how the books read to me and I've read a handful of the series books over the years.

Re: Reacher (Amazon) - based on the Lee Child novels - S: Alan Ritchson - premieres 2/4/22

Fun ending but the whole scene at the warehouse was too over the top. Based on everything we saw up to that point, there would have been no back and forth between Reacher and the kid. He would have been dead before he could start his story about murdering a rhino. For a series that took its time to tell a good story, it shouldn't have wrapped up everything with a bow in the course of one episode.

It seemed that way early on but didn't bother me, it seems to fade away a bit as the series progresses.

Re: Reacher (Amazon) - based on the Lee Child novels - S: Alan Ritchson - premieres 2/4/22

Only weird part that I recalled was
Spoiler:
Since Picard was working against them the whole time, why did he have to go through the facade of claiming he had to leave Kristen Kruek and the kids, and then bring Roscoe in? Couldn’t he have just sat on his ass until it was time for the next steps?

I know the family was under attack almost immediately after by mercenaries, but that seemed to be based on their independent tracking, rather than any effort by the main bad guys, since it is also in their interest to keep the family alive at that time.

Re: Reacher (Amazon) - based on the Lee Child novels - S: Alan Ritchson - premieres 2/4/22

I just finished the series and enjoyed the hell out of it. Probably one of my favorite series I’ve seen in a while.

Sometimes Reacher was a little too smart and the finale wrapped everything up a little too conveniently (Reacher, Roscoe, and Finley all got to kill their nemesis) but overall it was great.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Alan Ritchson in anything before but I kept thinking how he would make a great Superman in a movie sometime. The guy is picture perfect for the role.

He just did Titans on HBO Max and also played Aquaman on Smallville. He’s been a working actor for over a decade mostly in small roles.

But this is probably his biggest high profile starring role.

I wish Blood Drive was available to stream. I would tell people to go watch that to see how bat shit crazy it was for a show on basic cable.

Beyond the recent stretch on Titans, he was probably best known from Blue Mountain State.

Yeah, i recognize him primarily as Thad from BMS. Though now he's Reacher first and foremost.

I did end up looking him up on IMDB after I was done with Reacher and saw that he has played characters in the superhero genre a couple of times. Still, you dye his hair black and add a spit curl and the mofo IS Superman! I think he could use a little more of a boost from Hawk Man or whoever the hell he played before.

While waiting for the 3rd season of Doom Patrol I tried to watch Titans and it just didn’t seem very good to me. It felt way too much like a teenage angst CW type show.
