BH90210 (FOX) -- Beverly Hills 90210 reboot -- Premieres 8/7/19

BH90210, the highly anticipated new six-episode event series, will premiere Wednesday, Aug. 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling, the original stars of "Beverly Hills, 90210," the groundbreaking teen drama that defined Southern California life, return to FOX, the network they called home for the entire decade of the 1990s, in an all-new event series the takes the concept of a series reboot to a whole new meta-level. When the cast gets back together, it will come with a big twist: the seven former teen idols will be playing heightened versions of themselves in the brand-new serialized drama - with a healthy dose of irreverence - that is inspired by their real lives and relationships with each other. Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Shannen, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it's time to get a "Beverly Hills, 90210" reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast - whom the whole world watched grow up together - attempts to continue from where they left off?PRINCIPAL CAST INFORMATION:

Gabrielle Carteris looks like Dr. Ruth 2.0

Premieres this Wednesday. Set your DVRs if you care. I guess I will watch this since it's only 6 episodes. But it could be a train wreck.

Still sounds goofy to me, but I'm such a fan of these actors so I'll give it a shot.

Can’t believe it’s here already. Just thinking about that opening music brings a smile to my face.

I enjoyed most of the original series. The last few seasons were forgettable (literally, I canít remember anything after Dillon left) so Iím tempted to watch the re-boot but, Iíll be honest, that meta story line sounds absolutely terrible.

Luke Perry came back full-time for the final 2 seasons (9 and 10)

It doesn't matter for this. Everyone is playing themselves.

But for the record, David and Donna got married. Dylan and Kelly got back together.

In the CW reboot, David and Donna divorced and Kelly had Dylan's son and was working as a counselor at West Beverly.

As said earlier, right when Jason Priestley left the show, Luke Perry came back. But the show was lousy after they graduated college.

Wish Tiffani-Amber Theisann was on this.

They are Ö and yet they aren't. They're apparently playing sort of cartoon versions of themselves, with invented spouses and situations that mirror and gently spoof their true circumstances.

Sounds like it's similar to Matt LeBlanc in Episodes; except that show was far better than this will ever be.

I have almost no interest in this. I might watch if I remember to DVR it... I grew up watching BH90210 religiously... but having them play themselves (spoof or not) ruins the premise.

This is jarring. Drink everytime Tori Spelling talks about money problems.

Hmm, I donít remember any of that. I vaguely remember Dillon developing a drinking problem and then leaving town with some chick.

No he left town after his wife was murdered. He married the daughter of a mob boss who hated him.

Supposedly he and Brenda got back together off camera.

Then as I said Dylan came back in season 9. And then he reignited his romance with Kelly.

That was awkward!! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I think it was so outrageous I was smiling at how utterly stupid it is. BAG only one who hasn’t aged a day. Ian Ziering wearing wig! :lol Have to say though...didn’t hate it.

Ended up watching it all and it was strange yet oddly watchable. Guess I'll give next week a go.

It’s actually not that bad as it turns out. They mostly make fun of themselves and do it well sardonically. It really wasn’t bad. And I can’t believe I’m saying that. I think Cobra Kai set the tone and this is following suit. They embrace the past and it is strangely watchable. Disclaimer: I am in no way comparing this to Cobra Kai as that is far superior...

The mob boss (Marchette) was the man who ordered the hit on his father. He didn't "hate" him, but he knew Dylan was aware of the fact that he was responsible for his father's death.
