That was super weird, but surprisingly quite entertaining.

I was surprised how unlikeable “Jennie Garth” was. I have to imagine Tori Spelling was playing a lot of her real persona. And yeah they went overboard with her money issues.

“Gabrielle Carteris” making out with that female fan.

I was also amused at how much animosity that Jason and Jennie had towards each other. It was almost like she was disgusted to see him again.

Looks like the dude who stole BAG's wallet might be up to no good.

Almost like watching a "cartoon" with real actors.

Back in the day I watched the first few seasons, but drifted away shortly after they went to college. I'm not really familiar with anything that happened afterwards, other than what showed up every now and then in the supermarket tabloid papers.

It's a low rent version of Curb Your Enthusiasm but I enjoyed it enough to at least see how it ends.

Re: BH90210 (FOX) -- Beverly Hills 90210 reboot -- Premieres 8/7/19

”In the early going at least, “BH90210” is campy, but self-aware. It’s as if Us magazine and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” had a baby, as it blends gossipy reports about the stars’ offscreen lives and cheerful self-mockery.”

“Co-creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler say that, given the premise, the actors needed to be comfortable playing their heightened personas. That meant having them involved in crafting them.

“There’s obviously examples of actors doing this,” Chessler says. “There’s Larry David and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ There’s Matt LeBlanc in ‘Episodes.’ ”

“If that sounds more complicated than the Season 4 subplot involving Dylan’s stepsister, think of it as “Curb Your Enthusiasm” meets a “Beverly Hills, 90210” reunion.”

“90210 came back on the air this week as a Curb Your Enthusiasm–style comedy where the cast plays heightened versions of themselves trying to reboot Beverly Hills 90210”

etc. etc. etc.

Re: BH90210 (FOX) -- Beverly Hills 90210 reboot -- Premieres 8/7/19

CYE has a lot of actors playing heightened versions of themselves (ie: Ted Danson shows up and plays a heightened version of Ted Danson that's named Ted Danson, and Larry David plays an exagerrated version of himself) , which is what BH90210 is doing as well.

Most normal shows would have say Ted Danson show up and play a character named Sam or Tiny Danson Man.

sure the guests play amped up versions of themselves on CYE, but it is really just David and Garlin getting into very silly situations and continues the premise about a show about nothing that Seinfeld did earlier. i don't see how a quasi-reality/quasi-serialized soap can be compared to a flat out, smart comedy...

what were the Nielsen or whatever #'s on this anyway?

Highest rated new summer show. Which probably doesn’t sound great. I mean it’s all reality they go against. No new comedies or dramas...

Same premise without the smart writing. That's it. How hard is that to comprehend?

How can you have 90210 without Dylan McKay?
It's probably as effective as Charlie's Angels without Jill Munroe.

Because it's not a continuation of the series. They actors acknowledge Luke in the episode though.

Because he’s dead. What did you expect them to do recast him?

It was funny, fresh idea for something like this really. You all just pissed it's not 1990 and you're old asses haha. If I were them I'd carry this on and then in last episode or two give us the remake.

I may just have check it out since all of the forum responses have been fairly positive. Thanks!

Re: BH90210 (FOX) -- Beverly Hills 90210 reboot -- Premieres 8/7/19

I watched this last night and found it interesting.

As a fan of the first 5 years or so of the original series (I dropped out after that and never saw any of the other years or the reboot).

I will definitely stick around and watch the rest of this. It was fun seeing how everyone changed and wondering how close they are playing to their real personalities.

It would be cool to see them bring back other people like Jamie Walters (I think that was his name..."How Do You Talk To An Angel" guy) and others that had decent large parts in the show.

Sad that Luke Perry died but I read that he hadn't signed on to be a part of this before his death so he wouldn't have been on anyway.

It's a little strange that Ian has aged the best of all of them i my opinion. Tori looks like hell but she always did. Her concave bosoms have always made me want to gag. Wonder if they will mention Shannon's cancer? Has Jennie Garth had that bad of luck with men or is it an exaggeration for the show?

Anyway, it gave me a few happy chill bumps watching this show and hearing the familiar music playing in the background during scenes. The original came out when I was a senior in high school and carried me thru my college years because it was just dumb fun. Watching this makes me actually want to go back and revisit the old show again.

Didn't some of them participate in the reboot a few years ago?

Yes, Garth, Spelling and Doherty all had recurring parts on the 1st season of 90210.

Luke Perry was busy with "Riverdale", but supposedly they were trying to work out some kind of appearance from him.
Jennie Garth is on her third marriage; according to the IMDB, her husband filed for divorce in 2017 and then rescinded the petition in early 2019.

BH90210 actually filmed in Vancouver, so it would have been feasible for him to guest star on a few episodes if he chose to.

When he died in the Spring, they had not gone into production yet on this.

Didn't the woefully short-lived "Grosse Pointe" already do this?

I won't lie, I wouldn't mind a "Saved by the Bell" show in this vein.
