Love Island US version
I believe it started today
All i can say, if it's anything like the UK version, it's a great guilty pleasure watch. Way way way way better than Paradise hotel, ex on the beach and temptation island The UK version is very popular, it's pretty much a daily talking point for everyone |
Re: Love Island US version
Is this on CBS? I've seen nothing about it.
|
Re: Love Island US version
Watching the first episode, -and assuming its a reasonably faithful copy, -makes it clear how much of a carbon copy "Paradise Hotel" was (even down to the snarky narration). Of course that makes me wonder how well this and its massive schedule commitment will do, since Hotel was a major bust.

Re: Love Island US version
I couldn’t get through ten minutes. oh well. |
Re: Love Island US version
Would rather watch MILF Island.
|
Re: Love Island US version
This is insufferable. It might be bearable if they had a cast that could get through a sentence without using the word "like" 20 times.
|
Re: Love Island US version
5 days a week? No thanks.
|
Re: Love Island US version
The show's second night didn't do any better than the first. It looks like it brought "Big Brother" down with it, though BB still did respectable business. We'll see what CBS's next move is...

The producers seemingly didn't go for drama in their casting choices. This cast was purely picked on physical appeal alone. |
Re: Love Island US version
I saw a TV ad for this and thought it was a bit for an upcoming comedy sketch show or something. This is a real show? WTF I can't believe people would watch this.

Re: Love Island US version
This is essentially identical to Paradise Hotel. Cast is a hair hotter and the host is less annoying, but otherwise indistinguishable.
What a bust of a summer for reality shows. One of the worst Big Brother casts ever, Paradise Hotel was DOA and rushed off the air and Lovee Island looks equally shitty and doomed. |
Re: Love Island US version
I've been recording these for reasons which escape me but I haven't watched any yet and probably won't for a while. Should I bother letting 10 or 15 accumulate on the DVR? Is it at least sleazy and/or unintentionally funny? Is there any possibility it could get better? One of the big problems with the resurrected Paradise Hotel was that the cast was unimaginably bland. It was impossible to care what any of them said or did (though the finale did pay off).
Also is it "live" or was production completed in advance? Wondering if it could be abruptly wound up like Paradise Hotel. |

And this cast is indistinguishable from the Paradise Hotel cast. |
Re: Love Island US version
It doesn't have the same feel as the UK version
bit of a shame |
Re: Love Island US version
Got around to starting this. Suffice to say that I don't know who this show is supposed to appeal to but I damn sure am not part of that group. What a total waste of time that was. Unless you are one of the people actually on the island I can't fathom why anyone would care what is going on there.
Easy drop, and I usually don't give up easily. |
Re: Love Island US version
Bear and Georgia from The Challenge were on Love Island UK. None of these people seem to have as much dramatic potential as those two. Were they standouts on the UK version, or was everyone that crazy on it?
|
Re: Love Island US version
I watched the first two episodes this week and I was not a fan of the casting. I feel like The Bachelor shows cast more interesting and attractive people. There was also very little drama which makes a show that's on five nights a week very boring. I wonder if CBS will pull the plug soon.

I wouldn't say everyone is crazy on Love Island UK, there is a good mix of personalities |

Re: Love Island US version
Thanks for the correction on Bear not being on Love Island UK. I guess I assumed he was on Love Island UK with Georgia. It's hard to keep all these foreign reality shows that the new Challenge people have been on straight.
This week on Love Island, supposedly Spoiler:

Re: Love Island US version
From what I hear, this season has been light on drama and producers haven't pushed for crazy twists. By all reports, it's the anti-Paradise Island.

Re: Love Island US version
I was shocked that it was renewed since the ratings are pretty low, but it's apparently the most streamed show on CBS.com and CBS All Access in over a year. The show is pretty bland. They don't really allow them to drink and I think that really dampens the opportunity for drama.

Re: Love Island US version
Returns Aug 24th with a two-hour episode, one-hour nightly after that, with a two-hour re-cap on Saturdays. There wasn't a time-length mentioned. It will be filmed at a Las Vegas hotel and there will be frequent testing.

Re: Love Island US version
It would work better if viewers had more opportunity to manipulate the houseguests, -such as when they took away one girl's "boyfriend" and sent him on a date with someone else (I assume because she's annoying to pretty much everyone at home ). She, of course, wanted to know why viewers hated her.

Re: Love Island US version
It has now moved to Peacock and the new season debuts on Tues July 19
I wonder if Bravo will air it after it ends its run on Peacock? https://www.lifeandstylemag.com/post...-date-details/ https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv...bs-1235098271/ |
Re: Love Island US version
Some of the former Love Island people are currently showing up on The Challenge on CBS.
Interesting side note, the US version of Love Island has not produced a single stable relationship yet. They've all eventually broken up. One of the former Love Island women briefly showed up as a love interest on Bravo's reality show Summer House this past year. |
Re: Love Island US version
Maybe they recycle these people and they appear on multiple reality shows
|
Re: Love Island US version
So I've been watching the Peacock version of Love Island, which is, of course, racier (sex positions and preferences are freely discussed) and the dialogue uncensored. Decent time-waster program to watch at the end of the night. Funny thing, though, Sarah Hyland is credited as the host of the show and she did the rounds promoting the show; she's only appeared in the first episode and we're beginning Week Three.

Re: Love Island US version
Yeah, the host barely appeared in the previous US seasons but it was still probably more than this season. The old host was also much hotter. The new narrator isn't bad, but I did learn to like the old one. I guess the new one also does it for LI in the UK, but he just sounds like Craig Ferguson to me.

Re: Love Island US version
The previous host and narrator were forced on the show by CBS. Once Love Island left CBS, they were dumped.
