Well, shit got real. That horse was gorgeous. As has been said before it is the most simultaneously boring and enthralling show, maybe ever. But that ending was brutal, unexpected and fantastically staged and acted. Gripping stuff.

Great stuff and great show. I have two buddies that I have just got started on the series. I hope they catch up soon so we can discuss.

She's tough. I don't know I could have remained conscious after that kind of beating.

Rip is easily my favorite character. This just solidified it more.

No joke. I found myself saying I hope Rip makes it in time and kills them both.

Great episode, was kind of hoping they would torture one of the guys and get some intel or something.

I really like this show but there are times I "hate" watch it because this family is so fucked up at times. Beth is a piece of work!

Crazy, crazy episode. That last fifteen minutes was some of the most intense television seen on cable in decades. That last scene with John Dutton and his son was beautifully done.

Until the last fifteen minutes, I thought of this as a 'housekeeping" episode, as it seemed to put a lot of work into the characters, with some course corrections and generally trying to make them more sympathetic. The last scenes were powerful, and these days it's rare that you see a female character put through that horrifying a scene (though perhaps because she's portrayed as such a ball-buster they felt they had to go a little farther).

My Dad has been raving about this show since day one, so I binged it all over 2 days. Great show, and a great vehicle for Costner. Rip is the man!

I like this show, I really do. I mean, how could you have the great Neal McDonough as your main bad guy and not be awesome?

But here's my question: Why does Beth HATE Jamie SO MUCH?! I mean, come on. And why have the writers turn Jamie into such a sniveling pussy this season. Last year he was a top-notch headhunting attorney, and now he's a spineless crybaby.

Oh, I know he feels guilty, but good grief! I don't like it!

In the show's defense, he was pretty spineless in the first season as well. I THINK Beth blames him for their mother's death, but I'm not 100 percent sure. I agree she seems to loathe him for reasons the series has not made particularly clear.

I thought Beth caused their mother’s accident so I don’t know how she could blame Jamie.

Re: Yellowstone (Paramount) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 6/19/19

They've never said. In an interview Kelly Reilly didn't even know why her character hated Jamie. One thing brought up is that Jamie has never asked why she hates him so much leading 1 to think he knows. There's also a trend to her hate where it involves John and Rip. If they aren't involved she's a little less hateful to Jamie but she'll fight to the death to protect them. And remember when John told Beth to go easy on Jamie she said he only loves her and Kayce and John didn't deny it. So reason says Jamie did something before S1E1 against his father and Beth who is fiercely loyal and selfless where it comes to her father and the ranch still holds it against him. We may learn what that is and it will be a huge reveal that shakes the ranch to its core.

We were asking the same question and didn't feel like we could have forgotten such a key moment from S1 if there had been one. There are only a couple of episodes left so it will be interesting to see how much they resolve vs leave unresolved for s3.

I like the scene where Jamie was roused out of bed by John and when he gets to the truck and opens the front door he finds Kayce there just giving him the look like, "You know you're riding bitch. Get in the back."

It will be interesting to find out what the root of Beth's hate for Jamie.

I went back and watch the mother's death epsisode today, man is my memory faulty. It was Beth and Kayce that were with her when she died. What a harsh turn of events for Beth. Her mother blames her for the accident and the seats her away to get help.

I wonder what the deal is with Steven Williams, -he's in an episode here or there and they even bring him for this episode just to kind of explain his "randomness". That's a little more than the female cowboy got, with the character disappearing between episodes.

Dabney Coleman to play Kevin Costner's father in season 2 finale.

I actually thought Dabney wasn't with us anymore. Good casting. Plus, remember, Josh Holloway joins the cast next season.

I have to say that Kayce's son is one of the most annoying kid actors, I dont blame the kid per se for being a bad actor but the "Gee wilickers" nature of the kid is getting really old for a kid that age.

I thought the tone of that jewelry store scene was egregiously over the top. It's not like every character has to be going through devastating trauma in a drama.

The way things are building, half of the Duttons will be dead before the series ends.

For sure...completely unbelievable - it was like a high school drama parable about you know racism sucks or something, man.

Having said that, it was one of the few real slip-ups in the show, IMO, and I'm really enjoying this series. Costner's great.

What happens to Josh Holloway Lite when the real Josh Holloway shows up?

I agree, but as contrived as it was, I couldn't wait for the inevitable ass-kicking from Beth. As I've said before, I think the show is really working hard to make The Duttons more sympathetic this season, by making almost everyone they encounter far worse. I doubt we'll get any more brandings, but who knows?
I enjoyed the surprisingly subtle scene between Costner and Huston where they encapsulate their relationship in a fairly honest way.
