I'm not naïve enough to think that there won't ever be another, but right now, nothing on the horizon.* Mayyyyybe The Mandalorian or Star Trek: Picard.

btw, anybody watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix? it came up in some clickbait article about shows that could satiate your post-GOT cravings... true?

Last Kingdom has some good books, and the series so far is faithful.* However, it's more historical fiction than fantasy.**

The Last Kingdom is more like the BBC's answer to History's Vikings television series, told from the other point of view.

Visually speaking, this episode was great. I also think that Peter Dinklage may have clenched his final Emmy for this series tonight. There were some drawbacks, but overall I dug it. The scene with the council making wise cracks may have seemed out of place, but I liked it . Glad the Stark children (I count Jon) all made it okay. Hey , anything that ends with someone being reunited with their furry friend is a happy ending IMO.

Well...at least there was a lot of slow walking!

Bran could have easily overturned the decision. Jon killed a murderer who had no right to throne at all. Jon’s fate was terrible. A wildling? While certainly they love him, but c’mon. The season, the ending terrible. Syrupy sweet (like I thought) and comical, especially at the table? C’mon! A Song of Ice and Fire, really? That’s all. Good night.

"A Song of Ice & Fire"... I'm surprised it didn't also say "There and Back Again". Corny.

People have been guessing he would go north for a few seasons now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last scene of the door closing (that Jon looks back on) bookends the first shot of the show with the door opening?

Well, that was weak. Could have been worse, maybe. Oh well, most of it was a fun ride.

Great episode, great season, great series. I could care less what the general consensus was regarding this season and last few episodes, but they closed it out just about perfectly.

But in no way in hell will I watch any of the spinoffs. One show like this is enough.

Why was it perfect to you? I’m curious. No judge.

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

I liked the ending. I liked the idea of a Bronn, Davos, Tyrion, Brienne, Samwell counsel... and the show did set up the possibility of soooo many spinoffs... Arya out West, Dany revived by dragon CPR and looking for revenge, Jon, Ghost, and Tormund at Castle Black, Sansa ruling the North, King Bran and his men of mischief... but I don't think they'll ever do any of them. Maybe in 10 years then can, when HBO is hurting for ratings and actors are hurting for cash, resume a show about Bran's reign, to honor GRRM finally releasing the 6th book.

Same. Except I will watch the hell out of any spinoffs. You give me an Arya the Explorer series and I'll be in heaven.

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

This was good, albeit fairly predictable. Jon ending up with the Free Folk, Sansa ruling the North, and remember the conversation between Tyrion and Varys "perhaps the best ruler is one who doesn't want to rule" (paraphrasing), so Bran was one obvious choice. This show nails the small moments and banter the best, and there were plenty of those.

I also expected Jon to kill Dany (heck, during the kiss I shouted "now!"), but it got silly as hell after that. Dragon torches pointy chair, dragon leaves with body, and... (time passes)... Jon is in jail. Wait what? They found out Jon killed Dany (how???) and he's still alive?

Watching every season over the past few months leading up to this one puts a fresher perspective on things. It's nice being able to do that and not watching this show slowly evolve over the course of eight years. It's way more clear how the characters paths went the way they did. And frankly, I don't need the characters to end where we all were hoping they would. This season was every bit as good as the previous ones.

Jon Snow, he's formerly King of the North, Queenslayer

So, in the end it didn't matter he was Targaryen.

Meh

so Varys' letter about Jon Snow's true identity went...….. nowhere? I was half expecting Brienne to find it tucked in that book.

Not sure what people were expecting. But there was no way that was going to have a clean, black & white, ending. It was an appropriate ending. OVerall I loved the final season. One of the best shows ever imho. I look forward to rewatching the whole thing one day.

Re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

Wow, the level of bitching on facebook. Some are even crying that they wasted 10 years of their life. lol Nasty comments posting every 2 seconds in the fan group. There was no possible way to create an ending that would meet everyone's expectations. I thought it was well done. I did want to to get a crazy surprise that no one saw coming, but it had enough uncertainty to keep me on the edge of my seat with not knowing what Grey Worm would do, and Jon almost getting roasted by the dragon. Jon belonged with the wild lings so it was a fitting end to his journey.

The only letdown with me was the whole Night King story was so shrouded in mystery and the final season just glossed over it, and not giving us many answers like what was the deal with the spirals. Also when Bran time traveled back to young Hodor and changed the past, I was so blown away and thought this was going to set up an incredible storyline, but that didn't pan out . I don't mind him as king, but his whole story arc didn't pay off one bit.

Yep. While I'm satisfied with the ending I feel it was written and plotted poorly - again - but I expected that based on what we've seen since S5 so was prepared.

If he wasn’t a Targaryen, Drogon would have killed him.
