"This fierce machine which you have built, upon which we stand will bring an end to the Senate, to their cherished fleet. All remaining systems will bow to the First Order and will remember this as the last day of the Republic!"

Oops, wrong movie.

I won't be satisfied unless Hot Pie becomes Hand of the King, and keeps talking about how he makes his crust.

I have a friend I've been watching the series with the last few years. I work tonight, so won't be able to get together to watch the final episode until Tuesday or Friday. I assume any spoilers will be easy to avoid until then, as I don't read the internet much, just reddit, Facebook, and Twitter.

My theory that boats/armies will magically appear when you need them is confirmed one more time. Looks like the Dothraki and Unsullied assembly lines have been working overtime.

re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

And so it ends...

Let us take this time to remember those that have passed on the show, the good (most of the Starks), the bad (Cersei and Jaime?), and the ugly (the Hound and his brother, the Mountain).

Here’s to them: Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark, Talisa Stark, Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Joffrey Baratheon, Lysa Arryn, Ygritte, Tywin Lannister, Mance Rayder, Shireen Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, Meryn Trant, Roose Bolton, Balon Greyjoy, Alliser Thorne, Hodor 😥, The Waif, Jon Umber, Ramsay Bolton 🖕🏻, The High Sparrow, Lothar Frey, Walder Frey, Randyll Tarly, Dickon Tarly, Lord Baelish, The Night King, Lady Melisandre, Missandei, Euron Greyjoy, Qyburn, Gregor Clegane (The Mountain), Sandor Clegane (The Hound), Lord Varys, Jaime Lannister (presumably), and finally Cersei Lannister (presumably) and everyone else who took part in an incredible show.

Here’s to 7 incredible seasons, a final 8th season, nearly 10 years of great television with 1 ep to go.

We’ll miss you GoT. RIP.

I decided long ago I would rely on the series and skip the books.
There isn't enough hours in the day...

re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

Come what may, this has been a good run. One of the few series where I can honestly say I've watched every episode. I've also read all source material available. I technically started this back in 2009 when I first heard of this series and decided to give the first book a shot. In that regard, I guess I still have something to look forward to (though probably from someone who will take over and go off of Martin's notes after he dies). I also have to give props to this show for starting out with just a cult following and then becoming a pop culture icon. Never seen so many main stream people get into a fantasy show in my life. Though this used to be fantasy in a light sense.

If in the last few minutes we hear a choir like version of "Don't Stop Believing" kick in, we know what will happen...

re: Game of Thrones (S8E06) -- 79 minute Series Finale -- “The Iron Throne” -- 5/19/19

there will be plenty of GOT shows on HBO over the years, so that helps.

but yeah, sad it has come to an end. sad they decided to bum rush the series... I feel like there were at least 2-3 more seasons of good backstory and backstabbing to be had.

I hope Tyrion, Brienne, Davos, Jon and Arya make it out alive.

this is the end of appointment watching TV for me. used to be this and The Walking Dead, now neither, for different reasons.

I think that tonight's finale will be the last of appointment TV watching for a lot of people.

I posted that near the end of the E05 thread. It's essentially a more in depth explanation of the "now characters are driving the story instead of the other way around" argument some people have made before. Good stuff.

It's hard to say who will survive.
Spoiler:
In line with what I "predicted" in the other thread, I can see Brienne surviving to safeguard Sansa in the North.
And Davos going back to his smuggling ways.
Although I predicted Jon and Dany might reenact Romeo and Juliet, it's also possible Jon could sit on the Iron Throne after Sansa and Dany kamikaze each other somehow.

BTW, here is my earlier prediction:

I’m sure that’s been said about of a lot of terrific shows. C’mon, MASH, Seinfeld, LOST, Sopranos, maybe Breaking Bad, etc. Sure this was important tv, but not the last appointment show...

For years I thought they would wait until the last episode and kill everyone.

I read an article that stated this show and Big Bang Theory would be the last of these types of shows. Since I thought BBT was lousy as hell and never watched more than a handful of episodes, I'd say they were wrong. I'm sure there will be many in the future that will be shows just liked this and talked about en masse.

I should have been more specific. By "appointment tv" I mean the last that people will be going out of their way to watch as a live broadcast. The finales you just mentioned mostly came about in the era before ondemand and lots of streaming services. There will be other shows people talk about, and there are some more people probably talk about now, but I have yet to come across one that so many people try to watch when it first hits the air. I also mean series in the traditional sense of being scripted and not some reality show or sporting event.
