As for who ends up on the throne, you guys are all forgetting the charismatic, capable leader named Robin Arryn.

GRRM did say that the ending will be bittersweet. So Cersei/Jamie dying in an embrace and not a fangasm execution makes sense. Same with Dany falling prey to her basic instincts.

I think finding out that Cersei hired Bronn to assassinate him rattled him back to his senses.

He'd be just as much a figurehead as Snow or Gendry would be.

I mean, if Jon Snow became rightful King of Westeros, he'd be eaten alive just like his fake father was.

Dany's turn certainly foreshadowed, but the pacing this season was way too abrupt. Dare I say it, but Anakin's transition in the Star Wars prequels was less jarring than hers.

(OK, yes, that's a crappy comparison. Even at its worst, GOT is more entertaining than those movies.)

For what it's worth, Martin himself has said that prophecies are not always true, so it's pure fan speculation that they should be.

I've been wondering if Cersi and Jamie were dead, but unless they are playing the long con with this one on social media it looks like they are both done.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/14/enter...sei/index.html

Headey also spoke about her character's death to Entertainment Weekly. "The more we talked about it the more it seemed like the perfect end for her," she said. "They came into the world together and now they leave together."

I think the biggest proof that they are dead is because there's no reason for them to still be alive. With one episode to go there's lots to still deal with in a very short amount of time and there's no need to include them in that mix, I think it's going to be a wild ride to the finish as it is with the folks we have left.

The interesting quirk about the manner in which they died is that no one could ever know that they died or not. From Dany/Jon's perspective, Cersei merely disappeared. No one even saw her and Jaime go down there. Her body is under many thousands of tons of rock and will never be found. She might as well have been on the lowest sub-basement level of World Trade Center One on 9/11, except Dany can't call in powered excavators and wait many weeks or months to dig her out, especially since she doesn't even know she is down there to begin with.

I suspect this fact will just be ignored in the final episode and either the main characters will not care/not mention that her body was not found or somehow have some prescient (but illogical) knowledge of her death. And, like Zod said, there's no reason for them to still be alive.

Drogon...Wiling genocide Participant(merely channeling Danny's emotions) or Just taking orders?

Some believe he will live and end up flying away to anther land. Should he be hunted down and killed? Others believe he will die with Danny or maybe Jon will take him.

Some "fans" are petitioning HBO to completely remake season 8 with "competent" writers.

JFC its the last Jedi all over again, only not nearly as bad from my standpoint as that shit show movie was....

I like the second petition to have the writers followed around and have the woman say "Shame" as they walk through life.

A friend of mine brought this up to me. I mentioned the fact that Drogon hesitated before making Varys toast. She suggested that Drogon would not obey an order to burn Jon/Aegon and in fact might protect him from harm.

One of the theories leading that I kept hearing different people guessing, was that Arya would somehow wear Jamie's face to get close to Cersi to kill her. Yet no one considered that Arya is a lot shorter with a smaller build than Jamie. Or does Arya have the ability to change her overall shape? From what I understand, she can really only mimic people that would have a similar body type to hers. Can she also change her voice into whose face she's wearing?

I was surprised to see on Rotten Tomatoes that every episode has had a lower RT score than the one before it and this last one only got a 47%. I get the frustration with the Dany turn, but not really with the backlash. I still think this show is firing on all cylinders this season and only The Last of the Starks was a total clunker (though I would readily admit that The Long Night was certainly problematic as well).
Hope the finale is well-received so the narrative isn't so completely negative.

As someone mentioned a few posts earlier, it's similar to Star Wars. If you started watching GoT with the show, you're just enjoying the ride of action packed episodes. If it's something you grew up on, the story is being bastardized. I read GoT when I was still in high school; now I'm 39. We have higher expectations; that's just how it is. Hell, South Park had a whole episode on Lucas raping their childhood when the last Indy movie came out.

I've spoken with a few younger people (20's) who think the SW prequel trilogy is better than the original. They don't get why people who grew up with the first 3 think the prequels are trash.

I forgot about Arya impersonating Walder Frey. So how was she able to grow 9 inches? Jamie is even taller if she were to impersonate him. Does the hair also come with the face? I guess wearing of the face gives the wearer abilities that let's them talk perfectly like the person that the face belonged to. It seems there is some magic or supernatural stuff going on in the process here, so it's not exactly like the Mission: impossible style facemask.

It is definitely "supernatural" and not just a mask.

I said it before, but even if Drogon obeys, isn't Aegon immune to fire like his sister? That would be proof enough for most of his heritage (which basically just has conjecture backing it right now).

Also, historically do they rename the "Battle of the Bastards?"

Interesting that Arya used the same "root and stem" reference there.

not all Targaryens are immune to fire. Viserys was melted by the molten gold. Jon injured his hand in the fire after fighting the wright at castle black in Mormont’s room in season 1.

Varys was writing messages about Jon being the true King last episode. I assume they can just have all the remaining Lords accept that.
