Jason Schwartzman, Eric Roberts and Eric Andre are joining the cast of Danny McBride’s “The Righteous Gemstones,” the HBO comedy centered on a famous televangelist family with a penchant for greed.
The nine-episode Season 2, which is currently in production, will see Schwartzman in the recurring role of Thaniel, a journalist working on a story on the ministries. Roberts will play Junior, who grew up with Eli and has suddenly re-entered his life, while Andre will play Lyle Lissons, a megachurch pastor from Texas who befriends Jesse and Amber.

I’m glad to hear a second season is on the way. I really liked the first season. It was pretty self-contained though so I wasn’t really expecting another season.

This show is great! The first episode had so many great lines. I laughed out loud several times.
Episode 2 was also very good, if not a bit too short. Watching the siblings trying to get away in the Tesla was hilarious.

^ Agreed. Last night episode wasn’t as strong as the first two.
I did get a laugh at the siblings getting upset with their dad for dating again instead of being a murderer though. And BJ recalling his rollerblading experience was funny.
