Helstrom (Hulu) -- based on the Marvel comic -- premieres 10/16/20
The Runaways are getting a hot-headed Marvel friend over on Hulu.Hulu — which is 60-percent owned by Disney — announced on Wednesday that it is expanding its partnership with Marvel Television by ordering two new series: Marvel’s Ghost Rider and Marvel’s Helstrom, both on track for 2020 premieres.
Helstrom, which appears to be a bit of a loosey-goosey adaptation, focuses on Daimon and Ana Helstrom, the son and daughter of “a mysterious and powerful serial killer.” The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down “the terrorizing worst of humanity.” (In the comic books, Daimon was no less than the Son of Satan.) Marvel’s Helstrom is executive-produced by Paul Zbyszewski (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), who will serve as showrunner, and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.

I was wondering if we were talking about the "Son of Satan", which I used to read back in the '70s. For a time the book was written by the late, sometime great Steve Gerber (often remembered as the creator of "Howard the Duck") and he set his run in his home town and mine, St. Louis, Mo. It was one of those rare times when I would read a comic and know where some of his specific locations were ( for example, "4000 Holes in Forest Park").

He also married Patsy Walker/Hellcat, the one from Jessica Jones and Defenders. Though I highly doubt they bring up that connection.

They've gotta be building to that, and the reveal of their heritage. Otherwise why even use these characters at all if you're squeamish about the h-e-doublehockeysticks part?

That reminds me, I wonder if we'll ever get Mephisto in the MCU?

It's supposes to be a horror superhero story, similar to Ghost Rider. What surprises me the most is there's no mention of Marvel in the trailer or anywhere. Every Marvel project is named Marvel's [enter title]. Not in this one.

Pretty sure that is because this is the last TV show that Marvel TV did before Marcel Studios took it all over.

AV Club was lukewarm on this but I plan to start it up sometime this week. The problem is that I am still pretty much completely behind on Season 2 of Runaways so these Hulu Marvel shows end to fall through the cracks and I need to get caught up. I am not saying they are bad just that I am lazy when it comes to devoting a couple afternoons to catch up.

One and done. No surprise since Marvel Television is no more.

I think they had a decent idea, but would love to see this reworked into Marvel Studios (especially if they can connect Blade and Ghost Rider and Dr Strange). I hated making the father a serial killer. Just come out and make him Satan (or a powerful demon). Everything else would have made more sense.

So did anyone here actually watch all 10 episodes? Or did this just go into the ignore pile, dropped after xx episodes due to lack of time or being backed up on other shows?
After seeing the Comic Con at home presentation, I was kind of interested in watching, but there's so many other things to watch right now. I just want to know if there is anything worthwhile in this to devote 10 hours? Or does it end thinking that there will be a 2nd season? Or was it just not good?
