Not to burst your bubble but if you re-watch the original the dialogue in that was pretty cringey as well.

I thought this started out well enough but it just continues to go downhill.

The use of modern music in the episodes (not just credits) is just a really bone head decision. And the tone is just all over the place.

I thought the end credits score was fantastic, but the intro with the modern soundtrack was just plain awful.

Hopefully, the guy ( Kai Patterson )that recut Obi-Wan into a watchable film does the same for this series.

Wife and I don't have any issues with the soundtrack choices, and we've been enjoying this. I was hoping the Brownies would join the group, guess they could after what happened.

I'm enjoying it as I binge it this week, though I can see the whole CW vibe people are talking about.

I do not like Princess Kat at all, and I can't recall the last time I truly did not see anything in a character to appreciate. It's the writing and the acting and the directing, all combined, I think. She is needlessly mean and ridiculously inconsistent. We need to do this mission and I'm the leader! Oh, wait, I don't like how this is going, I'm going to complain the whole time. Come on.

I'll see this through and unless it ends in a bizarre way that goes off the rails, I'm up for more.

What a waste....

I would've been perfectly fine with them recasting Madmartigan with Christian Slater. They're dangling that carrot pretty hard regarding his whereabouts, but it's pretty much a joke at this point.

Didn't care for the Smart Trolls. It's like the writers decided to take the LOTR Urak-hai, up the intelligence and attempt to make them witty/likeable. Not even on the same level or even remotely scary as the original Trolls of Tir Asleen.

Jake Kasdan is obviously a fan of the Joss Whedon style of writing and storytelling.

Re: Willow (Disney+) - sequel series - premieres 11/30/22

Okay, I just wrapped this series (season?) up.

I... think I liked it?

It's fine overall. It feels like something my family should enjoy but with all of the great shows and movies I encourage them to watch, I don't really see the need to beg them to watch this. They like the movie Willow. But if I'm going to beg the kids to sit and watch something with me, I'm going to go with a Hitchcock movie or something of greater substance.

And that's too bad, because I think how I feel says a lot about the future of this series and who the audience will be.

I believe there's one more episode next week..... not that I have any high hopes its going to be good or wrap things up nicely.

I'm sure we'll get more cringe dialog, more modern music and another tease about Madmartigan.

Oh, I thought it was 6 episodes, but IMDB says 8. I was gonna say, that's a heckuva cliffhanger to then wait however long for a new season.

I did end up liking the Trolls. To the point that I wanted them all to relax and join forces. There have been several instances of interesting side characters who get killed really quickly around here, and that's too bad.

I loved this Troll line: "I deplore those who rouse rabble!"

This series seems like it was written by people who didn't like the original and have contempt for those that actually did back in the day. The whole thing seems more like a parody of the original than a continuation. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a She-Hulk in the finale and have the characters start breaking the fourth wall.

I believe these assholes consider this practice as "subverting expectations".

Seems like a reoccurring thing with Star Wars, Witcher, Marvel and other properties. Hell, I remember when the first Bayformers was released on DVD/HD, there were a few behind-the-scenes features where some of the people working on the film had the same type of attitude towards the original 80's designs (especially when it came to Optimus Prime).

Not to get too far off subject, but I think Kathleen Kennedy resents both Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for all they accomplished and now that she's in charge, she wants to make everything they made special her own, even if that means destroying the properties in the eyes of the fans. Especially if what I heard about the new Indiana Jones is true.

The Trolls reminded me of villains from Buffy The Vampire Slayer for some reason. Not that this show has been anywhere near as fun as Buffy.

Re: Willow (Disney+) - sequel series - premieres 11/30/22

I just finished episode 4 last night and as a huge fan of the movie, I’m no so keen on this series at this point.

I’m not quite sure that this series knows what it wants to be. It’s all over the place.

I like the characters individually but not as a team.

I’ll finish out the series, but I’m left wanting more.

Finished the slog-fest that was episode 5… I’m not feeling it.

It’s lazy writing and lazy nostalgia.

It’s like the writer’s room discovered ChatGPT in its early stages.

“Write is synopsis for Willow that includes current stereotypes, social trends, and make sure you use every character from the original movie.”

Aside from the casting of Kit and Eric - my son and I enjoyed the season.

Finished the final ep of the season. Oy, this show was a mess of all over the place. It's like somebody placed a bunch of genres and tropes in a blender and hit mix.

Judging from the end credits looks like 2 other seasons are planned.

I finished this, too. It's okayishly fine. It doesn't elevate.

Maybe it isn't for me. I'm not sure if it will hold my kids' attention. I'll try it with them, but they know it exists and I'm watching it and haven't asked to watch it eith me when they already enjoy the movie.

There are good parts, great moments, but they just don't add up to make the whole, unfortunately.

Re: Willow (Disney+) - sequel series - premieres 11/30/22

The production values were okay, but this whole season was "meh" at best and cringe at worst. It feels like they must have been intentionally trying to assemble such an unlikeable group of new characters. I guess Graydon was my favorite, but any one of them (including Elora Danan) could have died violently in the finale and I wouldn't have cared. That's never a good sign.

Kennedy clearly loves putting Game of Thrones people in Lucasfilm projects, but the Tyene Sand actress was a poor choice for the crone. The whole approach with that villain was weak and anticlimactic.

I'm a Warwick Davis fan, but I thought he gave a somewhat wooden performance here. Having Joanne Whalley back as Sorsha was the real bright spot for me, but she wasn't given much to do.

Re: Willow (Disney+) - sequel series - premieres 11/30/22

I didn't mind the characters and basic premise of the show. The style and execution threw me way off. It didn't feel like a sequel to the movie. I think the use of popular songs was a horrible idea. Also, someone must have loved the idea of showing the group standing side by side from behind in order to show off an impressive background because it seemed like they did it 5 or 6 times.

In the end, this was the typical Disney+ show. Not horrible but also not must see entertainment.

This. Totally this. I agree.

This is the first Disney+ series that I got bored watching, even to the point of falling asleep a few times.

Bottom line, it had none of the charm of the original film and made us choke on the nostalgia.

I truly wanted the show to get better and it never did.

I’m in no hurry to watch a second season.

This is kind of ironic, but I’ll give the first season of this DisneyPlus series an appropriate D+.
