Mehhhhh a little bit of a letdown I thought. The show has done better battle sequences and this one felt really padded out. I see they were going for the 'horror movie motif' but I felt like there were a few too many long silent sequences of zombies stalking people and people staring at the mass of zombies. And like others have said it was generally shot way too dark, several scenes were a muddy mess on my ipad even with the brightness turned all the way up. It wasn't a terrible episode but didn't live up to the hype. Only what I'd consider 2 'major' characters died and a few minor ones. Really the main thing it did was left me interested in the fallout of the deaths and what the scenario will end up being for the final 4 episodes.

Yes, I saw him there and during the charge, but we never saw him again in the episode..even when Sam got in trouble...because TV show Ghost only comes to save Sam not Jon.

That was supposed to be the biggest battle ever put to film?
Meh, it was the weakest of all battle-heavy episodes. And a lesser Sapochnik episode. So much hype, so little payoff.

Well that makes sense. He knew Arya would need it to kill the Night's King. Things would have been simpler if Needle was Valaryian Steel.
BTW : It's a weird corollary between Bran Stark and Dr Strange this weekend. From their distant, detached demeanors, to their mysticism and spiritualism that far exceeds any other main character in their show, to the way they

BTW : When Arya was sneaking around the library, my daughter and I turned to each other and both said "This feels just like an episode of The Walking Dead Telltale Games".

What a garbage episode of television. Shark well and truly jumped. I wish I had bailed last season.

I really liked the episode (didn't like it so dark though). My only real gripe is we had tons of main characters at the front lines and when the dead charged in - there's no way they should have survived but then did somehow. Grey Worm should have died like 6 times. But.. I get it.. there's more battles to come and you can't kill off everyone we'd root for.

I don't think so...there was one who started to turn and look behind the group just before Arya jumped in, I assume because it detected Arya's approach, though it was too late to stop it.

I’m amazed at some of these comments. This was fucking great. If you can’t appreciate getting something like this and Endgame in the same weekend, then you must be jaded as hell. No, it wasn’t perfect, but it’s clear we’re living in a golden age of cinema, and I for one am going to enjoy it as much as I can.

The plan, I believe, was for Dany and Jon to hang back with the dragons and wait for the Night King to show himself, so that:
1. They could engage and possibly win a 2 against 1 dragon battle.
2. The dragons wouldn't be exposed to potential Night King dragon-killer spears.
Dany kicked the plan to the curb when the Dothraki were obliterated at the beginning of the battle.

I think the hype got me a little on this one. All the talk about taking months to film, it being the largest battle ever filmed, etc. I think I was overestimating what was going to happen but I was left somewhat disappointed with this episode.
Arya is a badass at the beginning slaying dozens of walkers and then all of sudden she spends the rest of the episode as a damsel in distress...until her Air Jordan attack on the the Night King. I kept expecting her to change faces with the dead but she just kept running up and down castle corridors.
Not only were the main characters all in a position where they were going to be dead in seconds, but ALL the “living” characters were about to bite it that literally the only way out was for the Night King to eat it and all walkers were to drop dead so it wasn’t surprising to see how the episode ended. Although, I was expecting Bran to pull some badassery of some sort out. The dude is truly useless at this point.
And we’re just three episodes from the end of the series. She came, she saw, she died, and I still have no fucking clue what Melisandre was all about on this show.

She used her stealth to get by and live. That was badass. She pulled a Splinter Cell.

Bran is useless? He drew the Night King in so that Arya could kill him. Bran was obviously important to the Night King, or he wouldn't have been there, for him.
I'm bummed out for Lyanna, and particularly Jorah. That he died protecting his true love was nice, however.
I was mildly disappointed with Edd's death, as I thought he would've been a bit more alert after/while yelling at Sam.
I didn't mind the darkness. It seemed appropriate to the battle. Although, I didn't like some of the compression artifacting, but that's probably my cable company's fault.
So, what are the major plot points to resolve, now? The Iron Throne, obviously, so Jon and Dany, Cersei and the Lannister army. Douchebag uncle and his lot. The Mountain vs The Hound. What else?
