Missed the 80s but watched the 90s. Great episode. The only thing I think they're kind of avoiding is animation. I don't recall a single one being mentioned. And the 90s is the Disney Renaissance with the Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast & Lion King trio.

Even without the EP credit, he was one of the biggest actors of the decade. It's kind of a given they'd show a ton of his movies.

Little Mermaid was '89.

No Clint Eastwood directed? Million Dollar Baby which won 4 Oscars including BP and BD. Mystic River which won 2 acting and couple more nominated. Gran Torino. What up with that?

Well, after seeing that ending, we now know this was originally meant to be seen in chronological order. The Mexican trinity was my favorite highlight of this episode.

Kind of disappointed that Brooklyn was not mentioned tonight. Saoirse Ronan other film Lady Bird was talk about this episode.

Haven't gotten to these yet so I'm not sure what you mean by that, but now I may just wait a few weeks and do just that.

I'm actually looking forward to the 60's and 70's as they have covered the last 25-30 years in movies so much, there's nothing new since most of the directors/actors are still alive (There is only so much they can say about Star Wars, Titanic, etc. The 60's/70's stuff (hopefully they go back even before that) will be more interesting because you can get a different perspective as most of us weren't alive when these movies were released.

It was shocking they ommitted Eastwood since he came of age as a director in this century and a lot of his movie garnered Oscar nominations.

Also Scorsese and DiCaprio made some good movies this decade and no mention of the Departed and the Aviator.

More Julia Roberts

She got really lucky when she won that Oscar since the other actresses were better.

Agree

Was it worth the time to do a segment on Little Miss Sunshine?

Maybe in 2006 it might have been a big deal but it is not going to aspire future filmmakers and stand the history of time.

70’s ep, far and away my most favorite thus far. Who knew George Lucas as protégée of Francis Ford Coppola considering films not even similar...

Re: The Movies (CNN Series) coming in July 2019 -- EP: Tom Hanks

I would’ve liked to see more cult/midnight films get a few seconds like Eraserhead, A Boy & His Dog Or Pink Flamingos. At least some Blaxploitation made it.

Still a great episode as expected. I thought the Elaine May section was the only part I was unfamiliar with, but it turns out I’ve seen all 4 of her films. Doh!

Missed the first 15 minutes so maybe it was covered there, no mention of blockbuster disaster movies (Poseidon, Towering Inferno, Airport), Dirty Harry, Death Wish, or Smokey and Bandit.

A glimpse of Eastwood from "Dirty Harry" was included in a montage.

I re-watched some of the episode earlier. It's always 2nd nature for me to know about Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song starting the Blaxpo movement, but I wondered if anybody at CNN is now second-guessing themselves for including that film considering everything else that happens in that movie. Namely, the opening sex scene

Looks like the 60’s ep tonight will be preempted (at least on east coast) due to all the killings this weekend. Another showing at 12am, but who knows...

It didn't air at all, so I'm assuming it will just be delayed until next week. Of course, the usual Sunday schedule for "The Movies" is to split the previous week's two-hour episode into one-hour halves, with the first before the new episode, and the other half after the new episode.

The schedule I saw just said "The Movies" at all the usual Sunday time slots and didn't specify an episode. I'm assuming they'll air The Sixties as if it were postponed for a week. Otherwise, they might show it in those other slots, as if it were a repeat of the previous week's show. It's not like they're going to throw it out...

Re: The Movies (CNN Series) coming in July 2019 -- EP: Tom Hanks

As of now schedule for next Sunday is "Golden Age" in new episode timeslot sandwiches between reruns of 90s and 2000s. They may bump everything back a week, tag 60s onto the end, or not show it at all except as rerun. The fact it's missing from on demand tells me they still plan to air it as new episode.

Re: The Movies (CNN Series) coming in July 2019 -- EP: Tom Hanks

I would just set your dvr to tape next Sunday whatever episode they show at 6pm PDT the time they premiere the new episodes.

I am now caught up after the one week delay.
