I’m only 15 minutes, but so far this is a really shitty take on Lex Luthor.

By the way, did anyone else know that Nicole Maines who plays Dreamer is transgender?

^^ Yup. The character and actor are both transgender. When she was cast, I recall it was mentioned she was transgender.

I must have missed the character being trans. I knew she was an alien, but that was it.

Ok, I take it back. This version of Lex was pretty badass at the end.

I only came back to see Lex and wasn't disappointed. I liked Cryer's Lex far more than Jesse Eisenberg in the movie. Someone still needs to explain why Eisenberg was cast in the role.

That turn at the end was great.

Yes Nicole being a Transwoman actor cast on this show as a Trans Hero was a big deal. Also, story wise...her being born a boy caused her sister to be angry with her because the power that is handed down through the women of her planet was passed down to her even though she was born physically a boy.

That... does sound vaguely familiar. I really should pay more attention when I watch these shows.

Didn't they say on the show she received the power because of her challenges in being transgender.

When Lex calls "Miss Tessmacher!" toward the end, it immediately brought to mind Gene Hackman's call some 41 years ago.

In mulling over the episode, Lena seems to be a more minor character - which seems like the family dynamic at work.

Maybe. I mean if we go by what Tranksfolks say, then the power did in fact choose a female. Just so happens this particular female was born in the wrong body in terms of gender. That's why her sister is pissed...

Didn't Cat do the same?

I'm not disputing Nia's femininity. I am suggesting that the powers chose her because of the work and struggles she had to endure when she made her outer form conform to her inner self. Clearly her sister only sees "How could the powers choose a BOY???"

Perhaps not quite in the same way - then again, I may have thought that it was a nice reference to the '78 movie when Cat did it. Here, I could imagine the scene - where Luthor leaves Superman in the pool and the Kryptonite around his neck and summons Miss Tessmacher to come with him.

Well done!

I'm reminded of the fact that every hero needs a good villain by this episode. El vs Luthor just seems to work.

Lex Luther gets a regular old wheel chair. I would expect he’d have the best one could buy.

Wasn't it from the Prison? Plus he said they treat him like shit there. Or maybe he acted like they did...

Just to be clear, ..."Oh, Brother" is the first Luthor episode (this column). "House of L" is the current episode (thread is elsewhere on this page).
