given his frame I do wonder what else might have gone on here...

now is not the time to speculate, but certain drug use can raise your risk of stroke.

or maybe he was just a thin wiry guy with untreated familial hypertension.

we may never know. RIP.

Condolences to his family and fans. I hope he drags the revival/reboot into the grave with him.

Man sad stuff. RIP.

This Tarantino film has bad juju. He announces a film about Charles Manson and then 2 of his cast members die. First Burt Reynolds, now Luke.

That adds up.

Seriously though, RIP. Canít say I was a huge fan, but you do start to look at things differently when the teen heart throbs of your day start dying off.

If it was hypertension that caused the stroke, it really hits home for me. I just went on meds for that and there is a history of that in my family. You really have to take care of yourself as you get older.

Rip. All the girls back when I was in middle school and around the 90210 era were really ga-ga over him (moreso than Jason Priestley).

I had a stroke last year.
It was from the blood-thinning properties of high dosages of Ibuprofen and high blood pressure.

Fortunately, today's hypertension medications are EXTREMELY effective.
It's simply a matter of finding the right one that works with your particular body chemistry...

The revival IS happening. It was announced the same day he had the stroke.

Honestly I don't know how the cast who agreed to do the revival does it now with Luke's passing. I mean it's a scripted reality show about the "cast" trying to get a 90210 revival made and how the hell are going to even feel filming it with Luke's death. Do they even address it? I'm sure the creators have already scripted some episodes already. Do they have to go back and write this in now? It's sure it's going to be a difficult topic for them.

Jeremiah was a good show. Really good at times. Perry and Malcolm Jamal Warner carried the show well. Showtime and MGM were a pain in the ass to Straczynski, so he declined to come back and run/write the show for a third season. MGM then decided to shut it down.

But Perry was good in the show.

And having a massive stroke and dying at 52 is pretty shocking. I find it really disturbing since I'll be 51 next week...

Luke was a generation X icon and 90210 was part of many young people's life. I too watched the show regularly. Sad day RIP Luke Perry.

Luke was never attached to the revival and reportedly had no interest in it. Also none of the actors who are coming back are playing their characters, they're playing themselves.

I never watched 90210, it just wasn't my kind of show. I did however watch Jeremiah and remember him well from 2 great seasons of a really captivating series. Bought it recently, it's been on my to watch list for awhile. Also remember him from the Robin Cook miniseries Invasion. He was a damned fine actor, sad to see him go at such a young age. RIP, Luke.

About 2 years ago I finally left a job which had gotten so stressful, my Dr put me on blood pressure meds. Within a year of starting my new job, I was off them. Taught me real quick to worry about myself before my employer.

For sure. For me, I need to lose another 20 pounds. I lost 20 a couple of years ago, but if I can manage to get another 20 off, I might be able to get off the meds entirely. I'm on the lowest dose you can be on, but it had an amazing effect on my numbers.

Man, I am so sorry about the stroke. I hope it wasn't too severe and that you're working through it with Physical Therapy if needed.

too young, RIP

Jeremiah was a good show as well

Very sad. Was a huge 90210 fan and enjoyed watching him on Riverdale.

I didn't know that was Luke Perry in The Fifth Element. I guess it was a celebrity cameo, and I was supposed to be surprised and pleased to see his face.

That's the only time I've ever seen him.

Thanks for asking.
FWIW, I made a complete recovery without the need of Therapy.

This is from the start of The Fifth Element (where we see Perry):

Omar: [whispers to sleeping Aziz] Aziz! Aziz!

Professor Pacoli: [shouts] Aziz! Light!

[Aziz wakes up with a start]

Billy (Luke Perry): "Aziz! Light!"

Re: Luke Perry (90210, Riverdale) suffers "massive stroke" [Update: Dead at 52]

I was never someone who watched 90210, but I had a lot of respect for Perry and feel for his friends and family.

I am also someone who suffers from occasional high blood pressure. I was having it consistently until I went on a massive cutback and lost close to 40 pounds. The hypertension has since leveled out and it's no longer as bad, but I'm still working on it. I take my blood pressure twice daily and it's always a bit higher after work than beforehand. I actually have what would be considered ideal blood pressure on my days off, and I also know better than to schedule a doctor's visit in the time frame between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Go figure. Doctor says as long as I keep it where I do, no need for medication. I just don't want to become someone who has to choose medication because that's the only way to control it and stay in my job.

For anyone really concerned about their blood pressure, there are home testing gadgets that aren't expensive and are pretty accurate.

Re: Luke Perry (90210, Riverdale) suffers "massive stroke" [Update: Dead at 52]

Was not aware he was such a huge wrestling fan. His son (Jungle Boy) cancelled his appearances as of now, for good reason.
This is the sort of celebrity death that shocks you. I mean when he first had the stroke it was a shocker. Then to hear they had to pull the plug....man that's just horrible.

Perry appears in the 2014 film "The Beat Beneath My Feet."
