Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes -- Netflix

On the 30th anniversary of his Florida execution, CONVERSATIONS WITH A KILLER: THE TED BUNDY TAPES brings the infamously twisted mind of serial killer Ted Bundy into the light for the very first time and invades our psyche in a fresh yet terrifying way through exclusive, never-before-heard interviews from the "Jack the Ripper of the United States," himself. This unique and gripping doc series, directed and executive produced by true crime pioneer Joe Berlinger, focuses on the man whose personality, good looks and social graces defied the serial-killer stereotype, allowing him to hide in plain sight as he committed the brutal sex-crime slayings of more than 30 women before being caught in 1978. While on trial, Bundy received extraordinary adoration from American women, which made his gruesome crimes doubly haunting, even in an era of anything-goes mayhem. Inspired the book of the same name written by Stephen G. Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth, the series utilizes over 100 hours of exclusive audio interviews that the two journalists conducted with Bundy on death row in 1980, giving the unique perspective of hearing the killer analyze his own life and motives.

CREW INFORMATION:
Joe Berlinger as DIR/EP
Jon Doran as EP
Jon Kamen as EP
Justin Wilkes as EP
Sara Enright as PROD

He did a lot of his killing in the PNW (my stomping grounds) and I am very familiar with the story...even read the Ann Rule book.
Nothing new has come to light on the Bundy story for a very long time.
I'll pass.

I'd prefer Season 2 of Mindhunter, thank you very much Netflix.

I haven't seen Mindhunter, so can't comment on that. However, I think I'll give this a shot.

Although it's disappointing that it's just audio tapes. I was hoping for something more like The Iceman and the Psychiatrist.

Mindhunter is friggin' great. A worthy addition to the Fincher serial-killer oeuvre. Fictional story, but fact-based and with real-life 70s Serial Killers interspersed. You should definitely watch it.

For a second I thought I had already watched something like this on YouTube a month or so ago, but it turns out what I had watched was a Jeffrey Dahmer interview.

I'll give this a watch.

Watched the first episode, but it wasn't particularly captivating.

Mindhunter, on the other hand, has been excellent for the two episodes I've watched.

I watched it. It was average not a must watch or anything. I like how Netflix is trying to build buzz for this by saying people are in love with him etc because he is so damn good looking...BS

I lived in Florida (and near the location where he was arrested) and women were always commenting how good looking he is. Netflix didn't have to create buzz. It's always been there.

That perception has always been there. I personally don't see it though. Guy had a unibrow and seemed about average to slightly above average aesthetically.

They completely gloss over the fact that he was a necrophiliac. Seems his main impetus for killing was to be able to have his way with the body; that's how he got off. Similar to Cosby needing comatose bodies to rape. Then he'd keep returning to the body until it rotted, at which point he'd find a new girl.

It's pretty crazy how easily you could've gotten away with literal murder back then. If he wasn't sloppy as fuck, he could've gone years/decades longer without being caught. The perception that he was smart is another one that doesn't really hold water imo. He essentially got himself killed because he retardedly chose to defend himself (they offered a plea deal and he botched it).

Good points.
He really was sloppy.
In some sense, it was as if he really didn't care if he got caught.

BTW, I did read the Ann Rule book (considered the Bible on Bundy) long ago...very interesting read.
The reality was he was a monster, but a very smooth talker and used clever props (which is how he managed to get the girls to drop their guard).

Yea I seen a comment or headline or something along those lines, that he wasn't special at all he was just white. When at the time it allowed him to get away with it for so long. Interest in this is less than zero.
