Maybe I missed something but how did they explain the dude with a Klingon in him coming back to the Federation, even as part of that sketchy crew? Didn't we just see him a couple episodes back ruling the Klingon with the woman? But now he's back in uniform like nothing happened? And the guy who's neck he snapped has to see him every day on the ship now?

But why would the Federation let him back in considering the war and the fact that he killed a member of the Federation on the ship he's now stationed at? Was that ever explained or did Sec31 take him in with no concerns?

Section 31 operates by their own rules and the Federation often defers to them, they always have in the show.

I guess...still doesn't make sense to me. "Hey, remember that guy who has a Klingon soul in his body who killed one of your officers in cold blood? Yeah, he's coming back and you all get to act like none of that ever happened. Cool?"

Yes Section 31 basically does whatever the heck they want to but I think the Federation went along with it because Tyler was essentially possessed by a Klingon when he murdered Culber. We've seen plenty of episodes of Trek where someone did something bad but all was forgiven because they were possessed by some alien being. I agree it was super tacky to put Tyler back on Discovery but me thinks the writers knew Culber was coming back like in the next episode so it wasn't worth addressing (the creators and the actors all but told us that Culbert wasn't going to stay dead).

Another showrunner?
Maybe I’d better put my name in for season four.

Considering the super extended plot around Spock, I can't imagine them fitting in the Borg into this season.

Comfort Food.... Many want the same Star Trek from 50+ years ago. I guess I get that. Seeing that some things are being "corrected" in this season, my fear is it will turn into just another Trek Show and not be a stand out.

It also appears that this is occurring 3 years after Pike’s first visit. I’m rusty on this stuff, and thinking I need to rewatch The Cage & Menagerie this weekend.

Unless the producers have said something, I think it’s just speculation that General Order 7 hasn’t been put on the books in Discovery’s time, and that the events of this season will lead to its creation.

I figured that we'll get deeper into just why General Order 7 exists, and why the aliens on Talos IV have such a fascination with Pike and Spock.
Interesting episode.

When you really think about it, it seems like there’s some missing story between “The Cage” and the events of “The Menagerie.” Why the Talosians would want Pike to come back, and why would Spock, who had little interactions with the Talosians, want return there? And why going to Talos IV would be a death penalty offense; we’ve met other aliens who seem more powerful than the Talosians, so there doesn’t seem to be a reason why they would be singled out like that.

I'm really liking the cast on the show and the stories/scripts are well written as well.
I would say this cast would be good on the big screen but each episode has movie production value anyways.

Now that they've found him and are trying to fix his mental state, maybe the next episode should be titled "Spock's Brain"

Agreed. This show works in my opinion. All cast seem to boost each other and I'm caring about the characters and wondering what's next.
