I have a theory that every other season is good
  • Seasons 1, 3, and 5 are good
  • Seasons 2 and 4 are awful. I remember season 2 had a clip show episode. A clip show!
I expect season 6 to be horrible, but I'll still watch haha

Re: The Blacklist (NBC) -- Season 6 Thread -- Premieres 1/3/19

They really need to wrap this up either this season or at latest next season. They kind of lost me when they decided to flip Ian Garvey into a "good guy" at the end of last season, so going in with fairly low expectations.

Depends on how many more years are still left on James Spader's contract. An article from last May asserts there are two more years on Spader's Blacklist contract.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...s-2018-1108582

If NBC considers Blacklist to be an adequate anchor for Friday nights (similar to what CBS has been using Hawaii FIve-0, Blue Bloods, etc ....for many years), they might stretch it out while still under Spader's current contract. (Friday night shows seem to have lower standards for renewal).

When NBC finally comes to the decision to cancel Blacklist, most likely it will be motivated by what else they can dump into the Friday night slots vs. how much it would cost to renew the contracts of Spader and the other cast.

The only other semi-plausible reason for NBC doing further seasons, is allegedly NBC now has a 50% ownership stake in the show.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...nceled-1108603

Back in 2013 when NBC first picked up The Blacklist, rumor has it NBC got a 25% ownership stake from the start.

I’m glad Christopher Lambert has found work again.

I sure hope he and James Spader face off and he says, “There can be only one.”

I’ve always loved The Blacklist. As long as Reddington is on, I’ll watch.

In spite of Spader looking bored on screen, this is the primary reason I'm still watching this show.

Outside of Spader's specific scenes, the other scenes are wildly uneven from really boring to lots of decent dialog and/or action.

Sometimes when an episode seems really boring, I'll just fast forward over the scenes with no Spader.

I've done that with shows I've wanted to clear off the DVR. It certainly makes watching Supergirl easier.

”The Corsican”
Friday, January 4, 2019 (10/9c); Season 6, Episode 2

As Liz and the Task Force race to stop an imminent bombing by an elusive Blacklister, Red has an encounter that will change the trajectory of his life forever.
Oooooo, she’s gonna get it.

But the highlight of the episode was Reddington addressing the United Nations Assembly Room. His oratory on Cary Grant was so poignant and revealing. Kudos to the writers and kudos to Spader for delivering it so well.

Just saw the pilot. The "blacklist" storyline was interesting, but the Liz and sister storyline was boring.

I thought both returns were OK. Welcome back Red!! Looks to be an interesting finish.

A once superb thriller has been ruined by lazy producers who condone lazy writers. This whole "red in jail" and "jury selection" take up valuable time that can be used to watch "the price is right".

C'mon, people...............put some MEAT on the scripts.

It's fun to see James Spader basically playing an older Alan Shore. They just need to get William Shatner in there with him.

Wow...I am sort of shocked by that. I am very glad however!!!

I figured at the end of this season we really would see Red put down with a death sentence but finally tell Liz everything first.

I will admit, season 6 isn’t bad.

Usually the even numbered seasons aren’t good for this show, but they are keeping me entertained this season.

Poor Smokey. I’ve had dreams like that. They are terrifying.

Red is being too rash... I feel sorry for whoever it was that turned him in and even more for those who know about who it is and aren’t telling him.

i don’t see a key player surviving this season...
Spoiler:
Dembe... it’s going to be so hard for Red to do it... but he will kill his friend for holding that info from him. Either that or something or someone will kill him and Red would be torn.

Red was pardoned after the death of the president of the German Intelligence Agency. His immunity agreement will be restored if he identifies and captures the killer (S06E12).

I thought it was already revealed who turned him in, but I'll put it in spoilers anyways:

Spoiler, but not really as of April 12th episode
Spoiler:
Elizabeth turned him in, she even felt guilty about doing it. Dembe confronted Elizabeth about it after his investigation, but he is willing to keep it a secret from Reddington

Anyways, I'm enjoying this season. Better Blacklisters this year.

Yeah, I know. I was being facetious. 😉
