This should be a good one (both host and musical guests)...
A little known fact: the last time Matt Damon hosted SNL was the first episode of Season 28 back in 2002 and the musical guest was Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Now, he's been a guest on the show a bunch of times (most recently as Brett Kavanaugh) but he's only hosted once before.

well, another night of 'experimental comedy' from SNL...
led by the 'Daddy/Dog Show' sketch. I don't think I laughed once but it was exciting to see where they were going with it...I thought calling men in their 40s 'Daddy' was a gay community thing but I guess like everything else it has crossed over into the mainstream...
then the Christmas ornament sketch where the old broken ornaments were in their own kind of purgatory...some funny moments here, liked Damon's Good Will Hunting references...
then Cecily Tyson as the lounge singer doing sped up Jingle Bells and a monologue which was more funny/sad...
then the Weekend Update that devolved into reading off their jokes like they were throwing darts at a wall to see which ones hit...
then the 'Weezer dinner party' sketch which was only understood by the 8 Weezer fans who were watching...
the rest of the show was mostly mediocre, even the Trump opening fell flat wasting all that Hollywood talent.
Damon looked more bloated than usual but like he said he is in between projects right now...
Miley Cyrus continues to have a great voice but make horrible music and wear horrible outfits...that jacket barely covering her naked top was NOT sexy....

We need a Miley Cyrus Topless Christmas Special.
The Weezer sketch was great. It could have been Metallica instead of Weezer.

I though this was the most consistently funny show this season. The Daddy dog show sketch had me rolling.

Whether it was true or not, the premise of the WU ending was that neither Che or Jost had seen the jokes before and were reading them cold off the cue cards, so the punch lines would be surprising to them and uncomfortable for them (especially Jost).

I think it was also that Che gave Jost the jokes to read and Jost gave Che his jokes to read which is why Jost’s jokes were all racist and Che acted shocked after hearing them.

I assume that Miley’s jacket was anchored somewhere. But I was just waiting for bewb. I’d imagine a censor was nervous with their finger on a button.

Great episode. Some hosts must bring the best ideas with them. The Weezer and cop bar sketches were great. And the couple short.

I liked Damon's monologue. He's one of the better hosts - he doesn't sleepwalk through the skits and gives a good effort.

I wonder how many people thought Cecily's "Jingle Bells?" was just her being sped-up and wacky vs how many people know it was a spot-on recreation of a version found on one of the biggest-selling Christmas albums of all time and a version that still gets tons of radio airplay.

I thought it was a bad lounge singer "re-imagining" a stale classic. Technically it was, it was just Streisand first, which I did not know.
It's a skit they've done before over the years, with Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn as those sisters with the medleys, the skatting, and eventually breaking into "Clang clang clang goes the trolley", or Joe Piscopo as Sinatra with his "swinging" version of Silent Night ("Round that virgin chick....she had a kid")

I thought the joke was supposed to be that they presented it as a song that everybody knows, but nobody could sing along because they couldn't keep up with her variable way of doing it - especially when she was speeding up and slowing down and changing the key.

Yeah I had no idea what was going on with the Jingle bell song, a few of the skits seemed out of left field like the Weezer one but it was a decent episode overall.

Yeah, I recognized the Jingle Bells version, but I'm familiar with old music.
And yeah, that jacket. It must've been adhered somewhere, but it was interesting TV.

It was a decent episode with the guy farting during the the best xmas ever short.
It is shocking this is only the second time Damon hosted and first since 2002
He seems to be a natural for the five timer club.
Hope they don't get Charles Barkley for the first show in 2019.
