Maybe he disappears in Infinite Crisis instead.

I've heard some interesting speculation about a possible deal that the Monitor struck with Oliver. It really wouldn't play out until next year.

Supergirl's writers just don't like Superman that much. With Superman standing right there, they had Cisco throw in a quip to Supergirl about "my favorite Kryptonian."

And just for fun here are the Superman Easter eggs I caught in the final episode:
-James saying he is Superman's worst pal is of course a play on Jimmy Olson being Superman's pal.
-The object that Cisco is told not to touch in the Fortress of Solitude is the Phantom Zone projector.
-Obviously the Fortress of Solitude is designed similar to the Chris Reeve Superman movies.
-The Superman black costume that Deegan wears is a reference to the Kryptonian Recovery suit he wore after being resurrected from his fight with Doomsday. It was also in the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League in a scene where Superman has to choose to wear his black suit(and be evil), or his blue suit(and be good).
-Bitsie Tulloch looks an awful lot like Margot Kidder.
- Superman being a dictator is a reference to Superman: Red Son, and Elseworlds story where Superman's pod lands in communist Russia and Superman fights for Stalin, Socialism and the Warsaw Pact instead of Truth, Justice and the American Way(which inspired dictator Superman in Batman v Superman and Injustice: Gods Among Us).
-The girl who saw the two Supermen fighting says "Bizarro" which is the name of a Superman enemy who is an imperfect clone of Superman(depending on continuity).
-The Flash and Kara's destiny is a possible spoiler so we will leave that out.
-Going fast enough to mess up the Earth's rotation is a Superman: The Movie reference.
-The dress that Lois wears in the Fortress at the end is similar to the one Margot Kidder wore in Superman the movie when Superman takes her flying.
Sure I missed a couple more but that's all I remember off the top of my head. Kind of surprised that they have never done a direct Chris Reeve reference yet unless I somehow missed it.

It's sort of mentioned in Lex's podcast interview with Amell.

The one thing I found slightly amusing is the end where Superman abdicates his responsibilities on Earth so he can go live his life with Lois for awhile and Kara is OK with that. That is exactly what he does in Superman 2, and Jor-El tears him a new one (Donner version).

Why should he care about Earth? Supergirl is better than him anyways.

DISCLAIMER: I only watch the crossover episodes
With that out of the way, and not to get too deep into a comic TV show, but the episode seemed to give a really good reason for Superman leaving. Lois & Clark are going to retire to the remains of Krypton so the fetus will be "normal" and not be able to, for instance, kick a hole through his mother's stomach. It seemed reasonable to me. What's the alternative?
Who was the character who beat the robot? He seemed pretty powerful.

Ended up watching all 3 parts even though I dropped the Arrowverse shows 2 seasons ago.
It was okay, but nothing great. Oliver and Barry were great together as usual. I actually liked Lois - think she fits well with this Clark. I definitely got a good Margot Kidder vibe, and in a good way.
Everything else came off mostly just as cliche as all the series have become, which is why I dropped them. For example, it’s great to know I I’m ever in an alternate reality where everybody thinks I’m somebody else, I’ll be able to convince them I’m not crazy and everything is okay with a quick 2 minute pep talk. All three of them did this.
Also, Iris continues to be the worst part of the Flash. Her, along with her relationship with Barry is the main reason I dropped the show.
If they’re going to do Crisis next year (don’t think I’ve read it in 20 years), I feel like they need to commit 4-8 episodes and do a two week event.

That was a blast. I'm not sure if that was better than the Nazi crossover or not, but it was super entertaining. The chemistry between Amell, Gustin & Benoist is just amazing. I enjoyed Batwoman in her limited role.
After getting some Smallville references in this, if they are really commited to this multiverse they have to rope Welling into returning as Superman. Hell they could have a mini-reunion and bring in Justin Hartley, Erica Durance and even bring in Dude-bro Aquaman. I don't recall if Lex played a part in the Crisis comic, but get Rosenbaum on the horn too. Maybe it's been long enough that he'd consider giving it another go as Lex. Yeah, he may have died, but whatever, the writers can come up with a way to bring him back.
They should consider doing a half season with the crossover being his final bow. His deal with the Monitor probably sealed his fate if the creators are really going all in.
Deegan had nothing to do with Jimmy. Jimmy was Cisco's goon. Did you mean Diggle? Either way, only the Kryptonians don't exist on Earth-1, that we know of. There's no reason to assume Jimmy, Alex, et al don't exist.

They couldn't keep their worlds straight either. The characters knew things they couldn't possibly have known. Deegan admits that Superman and Kara don't exist on his Earth and wonders why, yet he knows about Jimmy and other characters on Earth 38 and puts them in prominent roles on Earth 1? Makes no sense.
This episode just reminded me why I dropped the show.

Oliver and Barry trading jabs throughout was the highlight of the series for me. Great chemistry from the actors too. Lots and lots of references to DC lore. The two I remember offhand are the red pickup truck at the farm as being very much like the one used in the first Superman film. When asked who he was, Clark responds "A friend", echoing Superman's response to Lois in the film.
I also liked how each of the shows retained their individual flavor, even if it was to poke fun at it. (I couldn't help but think of Deegan's return to Star Labs as a reference to Trump going to one of his cabinet meetings.) I could do without Superman constantly saying how much better Kara is than him. If you have to tell us...
When the heroes assembled post-Amazo, I thought, they essentially have a Justice League there.
Seeing Gary reminded me of Stan Lee's cameos too.
As far as crossovers go, this runs a close second to last year's Nazi slugfest.
