The Flash (S5E05) -- "All Doll'd Up" -- 11/13/18

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13

THE FLASH

"All Doll'd Up" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)

BARRY AND IRIS TEAM UP TO STOP A DANGEROUS META NAMED RAG DOLL - Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) lets something slip about the future that devastates Iris (Candice Patton). In an attempt to distract his wife, Barry (Grant Gustin) asks Iris to team up to stop a new meta, Rag Doll (guest star Troy James). Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) learns something about her father. Phil Chipera directed the episode written by Thomas Pound & Sterling Gates (#505). Original airdate 11/13/2018.

Busy with a work assignment tonight. So here's a really basic thread.

At this point it would almost feel like a bold new direction if they had Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin team up to solve a problem.

Yea. I feel asleep during this episode and woke up to that shit and its whacked-out movements.

I wonder if Tom Cavanagh is pissed with his material this year. Whoever thought of this for him should be canned.

At this point I hate pretty much everything about the show save for Ralph and the occasionally interesting villain. This week we got to see Ralph ingest a creepy AF villain so it's a win for me.

I agree, Ralph has easily been the best part of last season and this season so far.

Tough crowd.

My family was loving Rag Doll. Recognized him from America's Got Talent as soon as he climbed out of the box. They had someone else do the VO work though.

I loved the scene with Cecile and Nora. Cecile telling stories about Iris disguised as Barry was inspired. The scene between Caitlyn and Cisco was solid as well.

Ralph is always good, and I still have no issues with Sherloque. It's something different.

Lastly, no Jessie Martin.

Yeah I assumed the Rag Doll was on one of these talent shows. I remember seeing a guy like him on AGT so I assumed it was him. Crazy shit.

I wanted to see Ralph go up against Rag Doll so badly. I feel ripped off somehow. :(

Great episode, loved seeing Ralph swing around they city like Spider-Man.

You know a show has lost it when one character (Ralph) can steal the episode with what? less than 5 minutes of screen time? Wells needs to go ASAP. And now that they have worked through their ridiculous issues, maybe we no longer have to hear Nora whine about how Mommy is rough on her in the future.

Rag Doll looked cool, but they spent far too long focused on him doing his body twisting for absolutely no reason.

Wait, so Rag Doll was a real guy doing all that stuff?! I assumed it was all special effects!

Also, why the hell was anyone calling that a clown mask? I never saw a clown with a face anything like that!

That was pretty great. I get the feeling that was supposed to be Jesse Martin in that scene, though, which kind of bums me out.

^This  Also loved Iris jumping to save Barry. And Yeah, the Sherloque/Mutliversions stuff is so fun. It's sad that many have just fallen into Hate Watching these shows.

I need to see Ralph swallowing Rag Doll...And yes, I'm aware of how that sounds.

That was awesome. These writers are pretty fast and loose with the Marvel love. Kinda timely (albeit coincidental) this time though, given Lee's death.

I guess there's always a chance at CG, but given what this guy does live on stage, I doubt they needed to use any CG other than the obvious "squishy/flattening" stuff.

Rag Doll has to be one of the coolest and creepiest FOTW the show has had so far.

I'm pretty sure it has been Tom Cavanagh himself coming up with these alternate Wells. I think no one wants to point out to him that most of these alternate versions have been terrible. I could see putting up with them for one or two episodes, but Sherloque is already wearing thin.

I'll agree that Rag Doll was creepy as a villain. I wonder if it was the same contortionist that played a similar monster on the recent Channel Zero season.

It seemed to me during this last episode that his French accent sort of veered toward Irish from time to time.

Yeah, one of the worst parts of all these different "Wells" characters is how inconsistent Cavanagh is in pulling them off. Even with less only 10 minutes of screen time per episode. As much as I liked him in S1 and S2, the show would be better off without him if these stupid new versions is all were are going to get.

Good episode with a creepy villain.

I have to say Iris jumping after Barry with zero hesitation was one of the most badass things this or any of the Arrowverse shows had done.

Since they give precisely zero fucks about the timeline at this point, they need to somehow grab the original Earth 1 Harrison Wells pre-Thawne and bring him to the present to have a "permanent" Harry. The paradox can be explained as follows:

Far better than what we got now, but I actually would prefer a return of the Earth 2 (?) Wells and Jessie.

The way we're going, Cavanagh is probably going to play Max Mercury.
