Adding Stellan Skarsgard to your project is never a bad idea.

Genevieve O’Reilly and Denise Gough have joined the cast of Disney+’s untitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel spinoff series.
The series centers on Cassian Andor, who was the Rebel intelligence officer in Rogue One. Diego Luna is reprising the role for the series, which is set five years before the events of the 2016 movie.
Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller are also cast.
O’Reilly will return to her role as Mon Mothma, the politician who worked to oppose Empire and helped found the Rebel Alliance.
Character details for Gough were not revealed.
While there is no start date for production, the series has undergone some creative shifts. THR has learned that Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One, is now showrunning the series, with Stephen Schiff exiting that post.
Gilroy was already part of a writing team that includes brother Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Beau Willimon (House of Cards), and Schiff.
Tony Gilroy will also direct the pilot and possibly a second episode, but like Disney+’s other Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, the goal is to have a stable of directors.

Five years before Rogue One/Episode IV would put this concurrent with Rebels. Maybe Cassian will get some orders from "The Fulcrum."

I really think there’s a lot of potential for this series. At first I thought it seemed like a random choice, but the more I think about it there’s a bunch you could explore from the perspective of the Rebels without being linked to the Jedi/Sith storyline.
Just Rebels trying to survive and deal with the Empire (probably mostly Troopers and commanding officers). Plus if K2SO gets thrown in, which I would think he will be incorporated at some point given that he’s Cassian’s partner there’s some opportunity for a bit of comic relief.
Also Rogue One is probably my favorite of the Disney era Star Wars films thus far, and the second best thing Disney has done with the franchise behind The Mandalorian. Looking forward to this quite a bit.

There’s been another change behind the scenes at one of the Disney Plus “Star Wars” shows.
“Black Mirror” alumnus Toby Haynes has been tapped to direct the first three episodes of the “Rogue One” spinoff series centered around Cassian Andor, Variety has confirmed. Tony Gilroy, who helmed the original film, had previously been in line to direct.
Gilroy was brought in to write the pilot and direct multiples episodes, as Variety exclusively reported in Oct. last year, however, according to sources he was forced to step down from his directorial duties due to COVID-19 travel issues. The series is set to be shot in the U.K., and Gilroy will remain on board as showrunner and executive producer. Gilroy was originally supposed to showrun alongside Stephen Schiff, but the latter is no longer in that position.

Glad Gilroy is still involved at least.

I think writers are getting a better grasp on writing that type of character:
Yes, we know Cassian will die on Scarif, so we can't put him in peril.
So!
Let's put every single friend and family member around him in peril and watch Cassian suffer!
And I'm there for it.

I wonder how they’re going to manage to get Baby Yoda in this show.

They're going to have "Baby Chewie" in this instead.
You realize, with the reception "Baby Yoda" has gotten, Disney is going to drive "Baby ______" into the fucking ground.
Baby Chewie.
Baby Greedo.
Baby Jar-Jar.
Baby Artoo.
Baby Threepio.
Ewok Babies.

Love the title card for Andor. Rogue One is right at (and depending on the week) or on top of my favorite Star Wars films list. But, that announcement of you know who for the Kenobi series has me equally excited.

Cassian Andor is an underrated character. It’s nice to see him get some recognition.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Jyn as well but I’m guessing her story at this time was that she was just a pain in the ass delinquent.

Think about it, Cassian is pretty much the most important person is Star Wars history! If he didn't make it back up the coms tower to shoot Krennic, Jyn would never have been able to transmit the plans! And yes, I know the OT came first, but still, it's fun to think about.
I wonder if the series will end with Cassian walking into the command center and meet Jyn.

Felicity gave an interview not too long ago where she mentioned being interested in the rest of Jyn's story, so maybe we could get something on the side. But yeah, I think at this point she was on her own and just staying out of the way.
God, I would have a damn heart attack and die of happiness at that kind of scene.

You just want to see a scene of him right before that one? It makes more sense for it to go right up to his first scene in that movie... if they were to do something like that.
