Personally I believe the addition of Ben has been one of the best moves the show has made. I'm hoping this gets picked up given it seems they have found a way to make this series work after fumbling through the first episodes. And yeah, Lecy has been doing far better now that she isn't being directed to simply be the younger, even more over the top, version of Rosanne.

Darlene's boss is played by Jay R. Ferguson. He was just the lead on CBS' Living Biblically which Sara Gilbert was also on. It seems that they've been friends since childhood.

Ugh, there are no Rite Aids in Illinois. Are the shows' writers the same people that wrote Office Christmas Party? Those writers made the same mistake.
At least they did better with references to The Field Museum, Santa's Village, and Tony Fitzpatrick. It was pretty impressive that they would know who Tony Fitzpatrick is.

Is DJ's wife no longer on active duty? Did they forget that Becky's pregnant (she still is, isn't she?)?

What I would consider a mistake is Jackie reaching for her phone and it going to the Field Museum website automatically without having to type the URL or use voice navigation, and then bringing up the picture of the manager while still not doing anything other than holding the phone. She didn't even do enough to make using a bookmark plausible - nevermind it would be a coincidence for her to have that as a bookmark in the first place.

If they're writing a show that takes places in Illinois, they should take the time to figure the local references somewhat properly. How hard would it be to say Walgreens or even CVS instead?

Does anyone else think this is going to make it to a season 2? I'm thinking it may limp into it, but maybe get pulled half-way thru.

The only people who would notice this mistake are some people in Illinois and the execs at Rite Aid.

Looks like, outside of Ohio and Michigan, the Midwest is entirely devoid of Rite-Aids.
On a related note, I drove by a CVS the other day, and was surprised becase I didn’t think there were any of those in my state. Walgreens everywhere, though.

Still enjoying the show a great deal. But does everything have to happen at La Casita Bonita? It's the only place where the family eats out. And they had the baby shower there (!?) Just saying, how about more scenes elsewhere. Like maybe Jackie's apartment (with or without Bev). Or bring back the Lobo! Crystal needs to be on the show more. Why wasn't she at the shower? And where is Sandra Bernhard? She was always funny.

So Darlene is going to move herself and her kids to Chicago? It might be nice to know where in Chicago her boyfriend was planning on living. Maybe she could get a job at The Field Museum with Becky.

In real life, how many times have you heard of a wedding taking place at someone's house? In the sitcom world, it seems to happen on every show.
Hell, Cheers would use the bar for everything even though there was really no reason for the events to take place there.

That's kind of a thing with most sitcoms - they usually limit their scenes to a few sets and make excuses to having scenes set in those places.

Since Becky is working at that Mexican restaurant there’s really no need to have the Lobo around. Since Becky is working there it sort of stands to reason that it would be the new Conner family hangout.
Though they probably could have had Becky working at the Lobo. Most of the midwestern rural 80s bars like that that are still open have expanded into serving food, which was due to laws being passed that allow them to serve hard liquor if they also sell food. Though that’s mostly in the bible-belty states like Kansas; Illinois might be different, and might have had liquor by the drink when Roseanne was originally run.

I forgot. What happened to The Lunch Box?

Forgot about that. Plenty of examples too.
I recently caught an episode where Cliff was taking Diane out to a Postal awards thingy and Carla is going with his co-worker. They all get dressed up in their respective homes and for some reason all meet up at the bar to leave from there.
George Costanza had a point when he suggested to George Wendt on Seinfeld "enough with the bar".

I know. I didn't mean never hanging out at the Mexican restaurant. Just not exclusively. Mix it up a little. Just like Fred and Andy.....the Lobo went by the wayside never to be explained again. And to some extent, Jerry Garcia too. Who was briefly mentioned on the first episode of the "Roseanne" revival being off on a boat.
His mother died, yet we don't see him or even hear of him attending the funeral or anything. I suspect they Chuck Cunningham'd him (without ever having shown him).
And does Jackie have a kid or not?

I saw a commercial for next week's show tonight. It said something along the lines that there will be a big returning character. It seems they're trying to make it look like Roseanne is coming back, which obviously is not the case.
