Riverdale (CW) -- Season 3 Thread -- Premieres 10/10/18

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10

SEASON PREMIERE

RIVERDALE

"Chapter Thirty-Six: Labor Day" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LSV) (HDTV)

AND THE VERDICT IS... - As the jury begins deliberations in his murder trial, Archie (KJ Apa) makes a surprising request about how he wants to spend his final days of summer. Betty (Lili Reinhart) is forced to deal with her problems head-on after a heated confrontation with Alice (Madchen Amick) and Polly (guest star Tiera Skovbye) brings up some dark secrets she's kept hidden. Veronica (Camila Mendes) pleads with Hiram (Mark Consuelos) to step in and help Archie before a verdict is announced. Finally, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) leads the Serpents against the Ghoulies latest attack. Madelaine Petsch, Marisol Nichols, Luke Perry, Ashleigh Murray, Skeet Ulrich, Casey Cott, Charles Melton and Vanessa Morgan also star. Kevin Sullivan directed the episode written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (#301.) Original airdate 10/10/2018.

Season 3 premieres tonight.

Season 2 was very forgettable. I'd probably give it a C+ mainly because I like the characters.

Archie is on trial for murder and he is allowed to spend Labor Day weekend with his Family and Friends.
Seems to me in the real world he spending that weekend in a jail cell.
Nice to see the old jalopy up and running.

Poor Archie heading to Juvie.

Yeah made no sense that he was out on bail while being tried for murder.

at the end with Betty catching her Mom and sister doing that ritual. Now this show is heading into the supernatural?

So I guess they're making Cheryl Blossom lesbian?

I never finished season 2(got to the point where Cheryl was in the Asylum) but watched out of curiosity. Yeah, this show just keeps getting worse and worse. Now Chery is a lesbian and running around like the Red Arrow? Now Betty's sister and Mom are into the occult? Season 1 worked since it didn't go too far into crazy land but this isn't working so far. Looks like I'm still out.

She always was. There was an arch last season where her mother and uncle sent her to “re-education school” run my some nuns. Tony and Betty rescue her.

Archie continues to be the dumbest, most impulsive person in Riverdale. At what point does the actor ask the writers: Come on man? Really?

People should be prepared to see more supernatural-tinged elements on Riverdale this season.

They are trying to spruce up the show by injecting a little weirdness.

Ugh. If that's the route they are taking, I'll be out in a hurry. Can't stand that crap.

Show needs to be more lighthearted and fun. S1 was a nice balance.

Darn, its true, Dilton Doily is dead with weird markings on his back.

Love the Cheerleaders singing "Jailhouse Rock" at the prison football game.

That may have been the campiest moment yet on Riverdale.

This show has gotten increasingly WTF with each passing season. It's like the core premise is changing, which few shows do.

I don't know how many are still trying to keep up with this, but man this show has really gone off the rails. Now we have Archie involved in some kind of Illegal Teen prison Fight Club with some power hungry warden.

I'm still keeping up with it, but it's really just passive entertainment.

I hear it's going to get weirder and weirder this season.

The prison arc mostly seems to be about showing Archie topless.

Off the rails? This is amazing! Stop expecting this to be a real show! This is glorious.

Tonight was a FUN episode as the cast play their parents in a flashback episode. Well Done.
Anthony Michael Hall guest stars as Principal Featherhead.

Kelly Ripa is guesting starring as Hiram Lodge's mistress. Good casting choice.

Yes, can I get a Midnight Club spin-off? And kudos to using Dream Warriors.

No matter how much I like the four leads in their roles, everything else about this show just doesn't work anymore for me. I gave up on Riverdale a few episodes into this third season.

This show is very over the top and campy, you're either along for the ride or not. I dig it. This season especially is ridiculous.

Yeah if you're looking for balance, nuance, sensitivity... forget it.

If you want cheerleaders at at a classmates funeral in all-black cheerleader outfits and pom-poms... this is your show.
