SEASON PREMIERE

THE FLASH

"Nora" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

GETTING RID OF EXCESS - After an unexpected guest from the future, Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy), appears at their home, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton,) must figure out how to get her back to the future without disrupting the timeline... even more than she already has. Team Flash must work together to send Nora back, while simultaneously fighting off another villainous meta. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Sam Chalsen (#501). Original airdate 10/9/18

Seems like the general consensus was that season 4 was a disappointing season.

Looking forward to a season without the ridiculously bad "Thinker" story arc. I liked Jessica Parker Kennedy on Black Sails so it will be interesting to see what she does with more than a line or two per episode on this series.

Re: The Flash (S5E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Nora" -- 10/9/18

That was a really fun episode. I liked Nora/XS.

Also, a nice callback to season 1 with that paper showing the Flash disappears in the future. I forgot that was never resolved. I guess that will be the underlying mystery with Nora and her finding future missing Barry. She's credited as a series regular, so she's going to be around the entire season.

Funny thing Jessica Parker Kennedy is actually older than both Grant Gustin and Candice Patton.

The new Flash suit is cool. I don't see what the uproar was about it and Gustin's weight. It actually looks more like the traditional suit from the cartoons and comics.

Nora is a very bad girl and needs a spanking.

Better than S4 so far at least.

Ralph with the time travel and multiverse stuff.

Also loved the introduction of schway.

That Jessica Parker Kennedy gif from that movie she did in her 20's when she flashes "the girls" is still one of my favorite all time things on the interwebs.

Agreed, Jessica Parker Kennedy is hot and her character was fun. Good start to the season. I like the more mature, laid-back Wally. The airplane rescue was a cool scene.

Enjoy the Father-Daughter bonding scenes.
Barry, Wally, and Nora saving the plane was cool.

As for the episode I quite liked it and am looking forward to the season ahead. Looks like maybe Iris will be getting back to reporting at some point.

Good start to the season. Really like Nora. She brings the sweet and innocence back the show. Also Ryan Choi name drop. Wonder if he pops up on Legends.

A fun, sweet episode. One of the better Flash season openers we've gotten.

This is the kind of Flash costume I had been wanting since season one. Love the shade of red they used.

I love that they're embracing the goofier shit like the Flash ring, the Flash Museum, and even XS's reference to a character named Lightning Lad. I wonder if there's a Legion of Superheroes on this Earth, too.

King Shark vs Grod!

"I can't do it myself, but maybe if the three of us do it"

Me: "Three of them? Who is the third person?"

I had totally forgot Wally was in the episode already. Anyway, I thought this was a good start. Loved the reference to the Flash museum, and finally see him getting The Flash ring. Overall I liked it and had fun.

What does Wally do anyways (other than his hair)?

I assume since he's been booted off Legends he's coming back to Flash at some point (unless they kill him off, exile him to the time stream, speed force, etc, etc)

Was it King Shark vs. Grod or King Shark working with Grod (some new form of Legion of Doom)?

Who could miss Wally partially ruining what was otherwise a fantastic episode. If that is Jessica's/Nora's normal voice, she sounds even younger than she looks. Don't know what she normally sounds like since she always had that distracting accept when she was on Black Sails.

Re: The Flash (S5E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Nora" -- 10/9/18

Hated her accent on Black Sails, it ruined her character for me, but I've generally liked her since the time of seeing her on The Secret Circle (shame that one got canceled after only one season). Black Sails was an excellent show once it found it's footing though, for those on the fence about checking it out. A great "prequel" of sorts to the Treasure Island story.

I'm pretty sure Nora implied that King Shark helped Team Flash in some way against Grod. Although she didn't say whether it was on purpose or not.

Oh wow Flash is back! This single episode was already much better than last season. And I absolutely loved Ralph working previous plot holes in the series, "Why didn't Eddie just get a vasectomy?" This is exactly more of what the Arrowverse needs is to not take itself too seriously.

Also the introduction of schway was so cool! At first I didn't think much of it thought it was a throwback until it hit me that it's actually from the Batman Beyond future timeline that Nora is likely from. So as small of a connection as it was it was still cool seeing the Arrowverse cross over with the Timmverse.
