It's a little weird that Guild and Gilligan still seem to have no idea how many seasons this show, which more than just about any other original fiction-based drama series in history would appear to have a clearly-defined endpoint, is going to run.

I'm in the minority based on comments but I'm finding this season a drag to get through. I just don't care about the characters anymore. Could be over-saturation.

Maybe they do know but don’t want to announce it is ending to not let on to surprises and big moments.

Not for me. I think it is almost as good as BB itself.

Wow. Very, very powerful episode.

Next up: In about a year we get to see what's shaking back in Omaha with black and white Gene.

I feel the same way at times, especially this season. 'Self-indulgent' is the best way I can think of to describe it.

Great episode.

Cold end to Ziegler. I still think it's a bigger risk to have Ziegler's wife know something was up by the way he uncharacteristically shunned her away and then disappears. And sure enough, if they just let it be and await his return - Lalo wouldn't know as much as he does.

The birth of Saul - not only in name, but in personality from Kim's point of view. She had a great expression when she realized Jimmy was running a con-job the whole time and was never sincere.

A good episode, but certainly not a happy episode.

We've seen it coming, but I was still sorry to see Ziegler go. I liked the character.

I had a good chuckle when I saw Mike chewing the gum. I knew what he was going to do, but didn't figure on the necessary step of getting the blocker between their cars.

That was definitely a clincher for Kim. Pretty sad to watch her face as she realized.

It'll be a long wait for S5.

what an ending!

also love Mike's use of gum, that parking garage job tought him well

I actually thought the best and most appropriate scene in the episode was Jimmy and Chuck's last line in the opening as they fell asleep singing .... "but I was a fool, playing by the rules"

Re: Better Call Saul (S4E10) -- 85 min Season Finale -- "Winner" -- 10/8/18

It was pointed out last week, but I love that when Saul is being sincere, people believe he is full of shit. It's only when he tells them what they want to (or think they should) hear that people believe him.

To me, Saul spilling his guts out to the female candidate with a criminal record and telling her what she has to do to win was the strongest scene of the show. He was trying to help someone with sincerity and honesty, and she couldn't get away from him fast enough. Not to mention the advice he gave, that he himself will continue to take, will only lead to a rock-bottom he thought was so low that he once joked about it.

Oh yeah, there is no doubt everything he said to her was autobiographical. And her reaction was to recoil in disgust.

I am in stunned awe. That was amazing. Best episode of the series and one of the best episodes of TV in a decade. Wow. The way Rhea Seahorn plays the final scene was unbelievable.

Wouldn't it have been easier on everyone to let Ziegler have the 4 days with his wife then return to work?
I understand it was his second mistake after getting drunk at the bar & talking to one of the guys in the bar about the job. Maybe if that didn't happen Gus would've given him a pass for sneaking off to see his wife?

Also, what was the deal with Mike being followed by Lalo?

And Mike gets another innocent civilian killed by the cartel.

Gus isn’t exactly a second chances kind of guy.

I’m actually surprised that they’re letting Ziegler’s wife go back to Germany. She’s just another loose end that could start to unravel the whole thing. I would think Mr. Fring would want them both taken care of. It would be easy to stage a robbery where they’re both shot and killed; foreign tourists are frequentbtargets of muggings and other crimes.

Mike decided to let the wife go back; Gus sent men to kill her and Mike interfered. We really don't know what happened next, or how Mike would try to sell it to Fring. Mike has laid out to Zeigler that there would be an accident reported and it would look official, but that's speculation on his part. Mike is saying the other guys are good, but we really don't know that.

Agreed, fantastic episode and one of the best of this series. Another thing great about it was the tension, which seemed long overdue. The Mike-Lalo-Ziegler cat and mouse game was great to watch.

Heartbreaking ending scene for Kim. I loved the final shot as we see her watching Saul walk away while the camera slowly pans back from her. Great stuff

I must have missed something, but why was Jimmy part of that group of people deciding on scholarships? Was that something Chuck had set him up in previously?

Not exactly, but Chuck's estate had set up the scholarship fund and Howard offered Jimmy a spot on the board. At the time he wasn't at all interested, but now it served a purpose.
