Not sure what she’s promoting now, but she was good in Ocean’s 8.
Edit to add: Awkwafina was in Crazy Rich Asians...

Ah, thought that might be a new cast member or something like that behind her. Didn't watch the clip.

The second Travis Scott song was not as bad as the first song.
Kate McKinnon as the old movie star, The Trump boys. and Pete Davidson's monologue were the highlights of the show.
Finally we will get a good guest host and musicial guest next week with Seth Meyers and Paul Simon.

Late McKinnon is amazing as the old movie star.
I’ve got an SNL question. Last Saturday, on the west coast after SNL they played an old episode. It was from October 1992, with Christopher Walken as the guest. There was no mention of Mike Myers. He wasn’t in the opening credits and he didn’t appear in any sketches. Did he take a leave when Wayne’s World was such a hit? Dana Carvey was there.

This was the first time I watched SNL in years, because Awkwafina was the host. I'm white, but the majority of my friends are Asian-American (I volunteer at a lot of API-centered events. Started out with an Asian film festival because I like movies, and it just snowballed from there). I have to admit, I was almost moved to tears when she talked about standing outside 30 Rock just to be near the building when an Asian-American woman hosted SNL for the first time ever. You really have to stop and think about what it's like when you're born in a country, but the entertainers, politicians, sports stars, etc, are not from your ethnic group. There are a ton of super funny Asian Americans, and I hope SNL keeps going to that well (they need to be making daily calls to Constance Wu's agents, BEGGING her to host).
That said, the show really is a shell of its former self, and I haven't been missing anything. Best potential sketch of the night was the magician one, but I think they left a lot of laughs on the table.
Weekend Update is a mess. I think every joke they make should be a Trump joke. Unfortunately, they don't make jokes anymore! It was just a bunch of anti-Trump commentary. While I agree with the sentiment, that commentary needs to be inside of JOKES, of which there were none.
Won't be watching again for a while. Tempted for Paul Simon this week, especially if he breaks out some old songs (some of my favorite SNL music bits post 2000 were Aerosmith busting out "Big Ten Inch" and U2 doing "I Will Follow". But if his voice isn't strong, it could be a let down...

I don't know who any of these people are.
I only watch the cold open now, and then I'm out. SNL is made for YouTube anyways.

I know who Awkwafina is, but I agree....she's not "A-list" yet. I have to wonder if they tried to get Constance Wu, but were unable to, so they settled for her co-star in CRA.
(I wonder if Wu is reluctant to do appearances like SNL. This is only anecdotal, but our festival did a Fresh Off the Boat event before its premiere. We were able to get Randall Park, and the three kids, but Constance Wu was not part of the event. I'm sure our organizers wanted to have the entire cast, but it did not happen)

It is too bad McKinnon's tardiness has left her branded with that unfortunate nickname.

Auto correct strikes again.
Was he making Axe Murderer or Wayne’s World 2? At the time I didn’t notice his absence. It seems kind of crazy. I sure he wanted to capitalize on his film success, but staying on SNL keeps you out there. One of many bad Myer’s mistakes.

They drove dump trucks full of money to Mike Myers' house for him to keep making Austin Powers movies. I hardly think scaling back SNL was a "mistake" for his career.

You’ve got the timeline screwed up. He didn’t make the first Austin Powers until 1997, two years after leaving SNL.
I’m saying that amidst the peak of his career he misses most of the 1992 season to make a pet project and a sequel to Wayne’s World. By all means make those pictures, but it would be better to stay on SNL at the same time.

I figured it would be a short list, but that's pretty interesting.

Ken Jeong would probably make a good host. He goes all in on comedy.

I still wonder why Nick Offerman has not hosted since he has had two shows on NBC and it probably would not cost a fortune to get him and he would probably kill on the show.
The Perot and Stockdale sketch from that show though dated still kills
McKinnon shows up late for SNL sketches?
