I don’t envy the writers, producers and crew of this show. She’s probably going to be a nightmare to work with next season.
i don’t buy her explanation and telling people not to assume. She was probably excited to bail.

Once the film career fizzles cause of her bad rap,Katherine Heigl and her should team up for a Cagney & Lacey reboot

Yeah, it seems she has some issues. I really only knew her from this when it started and thought she was great. Then she went crazy about Matt Damon in the Great Wall and I became much less of a fan. This will pretty much seal it for me and my dislike for her now.
I don't believe her response either.

Oof. I like Constance Wu. She's funny as hell, and not too hard on the eyes. But this crap today makes it hard to be a fan. It's obvious she wasn't thrilled about having to stay on the program, and her explanations of her tweets are pretty much BS

I can't imagine that it's easy being an Asian person in Hollywood but you are not helping your case by doing this crap.

^ I'll somewhat buy that. At least she admitted she was hoping to do other projects, which we all knew, and the renewal forced her to back out of them. Maybe there's a little spin going on with her "love for FOTB", but at least she wasn't trying to say that her tweets yesterday were about something totally different going on in her life and her comments were "misinterpreted"

It was not a great show but she should be happy and grateful that it gave her exposure to a film career

But maybe being a sitcom mom was not the final goal of her acting career. And filming 22 episodes is a major time suck and substantially limits the other projects she can do.
That said, she needed to be a little more pragmatic in her tweeting. That could be a career-killer for a woman of color in the industry.

On the flipside,if her performance wasn't as good as it was in season 1 and she wasn't as dynamic a presence as she is,no way in hell this makes it out of the first season even with all the other talented performers on the show. This cast probably don't have their specific jobs the last few years if the part of Jessica Huang wasn't a breakout charecter

She could have just announced I was leaving mid-season or after the season ended like other actors like Clooney did with ER and nobody would have complained.

What a dumbass. She's going to end up like David Caruso.
Michael J. Fox was making movies and doing a TV series with no complaints.

Gemma Chan had a social media slip up, inadvertently “liking” a message on social media that criticized Constance Wu, who made headlines this week after she responded rather unhappily to news that her ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat had been renewed for another season.
The since-deleted Twitter post which Chan — who starred in Crazy Rich Asians alongside Wu — accidentally liked alleged that Wu had “a reputation for being rude, petty, mean-spirited, and ungrateful.”
On Saturday, Chan, 36, addressed the incident on Twitter, writing, “Just to clarify – it was an accidental ‘like.’ ““Anyone looking for drama or beef, sorry to disappoint,” the British actress added, sharing the message alongside a GIF of a woman artfully maneuvering her way through a room filled with lasers. “Future me dodging the like button whilst scrolling,” Chan joked.

Maybe it is more than just Diva issues and she might have some mental problems

Famously difficult “Crazy Rich Asians” star Constance Wu is once again in trouble for treating others like crap — after she rented a fancy Manhattan penthouse for a few months, but let her pet bunny roam wild around the place, leaving the joint strewn with rabbit poop.Wu — who caused a huge stir when she threw a Twitter snit fit after her ABC show “Fresh Off the Boat” was renewed — rented a gorgeous, $6.5 million Chelsea apartment next to the High Line for a few months while filming “Hustlers” with Jennifer Lopez.
The penthouse’s owner was appalled when the actress moved in and brought her pet bunny, Lida Rose, without permission — and allowed the animal to hop, defecate and pee freely all over the place, a three-bedroom pad with a sprawling private terrace. After the horrified housekeeper — hired by the owner to clean once a week — raised the alarm after being forced to clean up the revolting rabbit mess, we’re told Wu was warned a number of times to keep her fluffy beast in its luxe hutch. But, according to sources in the fancy building, she ignored the warnings, and let it repeatedly hop around until the fed-up owner eventually called the actress’ management and threatened to throw her out.
One source in the building told Page Six, “Constance’s bunny totally destroyed the place, there was poop and pee everywhere, and the actress had done nothing to clean it up. The animal went all over the entranceway, the living room, the kitchen, the bedroom.”A second source with direct knowledge of the pet pandemonium confirmed, “The place totally stank, it was disgusting, there were little pellets of poo everywhere, and Constance seemed oblivious to it. She seems to sleep with the bunny, and there was even poop in the bed.”
