Been catching up on this, last watched ep was Harley's Highway, utterly bonkers concept. But the wife and I are loving this show so much. The Venture Bros influences are all over this.

‘Harley Quinn’ Is Getting a Kite Man Spinoff Series
‘Harley Quinn’ Is Getting a Kite Man Spinoff Series

HBO Max
Harley Quinn, like the DC character it features, is a very tough show to kill. It has already survived one streaming service; when its original producer, DC Universe, was shut down, it migrated over to its current online home, HBO Max. Now the show is getting a spinoff about one of the most beloved DC Comics characters in history: Kite Man.
Well, he might not be that beloved yet, but hey, that is what the show is for. Tentatively titled Noonan’s, a ten-episode season has been ordered by HBO Max, with Matt Oberg reprising his Harley Quinn role as the voice of Kite Man.
Here is how HBO Max describes the series:
Lovable loser Kite Man and his new squeeze Golden Glider moonlight as criminals to support their foolish purchase of Noonan’s, Gotham’s seediest dive bar, where everybody knows your name, but not necessarily your secret identity!
On Harley Quinn, Kite Man is Poison Ivy’s longtime boyfriend turned fiancé. Not to spoil the show, but that’s over now, hence his “new squeeze” referred to in the plot synopsis. Golden Glider is another old school DC Comics supervillain; she’s canonically Captain Cold’s younger sister who is a world-class figure skater who acquires special skates that allow her to ice skate on any surface or even in the air. Comics!!!
Noonan’s is being showrun by Dean Lorey, one of the three original developers of the Harley Quinn animated series along with Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. (Halpern and Schumacker are executive producers of the new spinoff as well.) Meanwhile, Season 3 of Harley Quinn is also expected to premiere on HBO Max later in 2022.

That's an interesting path. Harley was originally a side character of a villain in an animated show and has now become so popular that she headlines numerous live action and animated projects and can even spin off her own side-characters.

I kind of question how much can be done with just Kite Man. I can see him as a recurring character on Harley Quinn and maybe some episodes where he’s the main focus, but to do a series with him as the lead character seems weird.

Terrible idea here. Love Harley Quinn but Kite Man as lead in a spin-off?
He's simply one of those characters who is kinda humorous and light hearted but not memorable.
So odd....

I'm skeptical as well. He's okay in very small doses, but gets annoying really quickly. I'll give it a shot though.

Some of you don't realize the Fan Base Kite-Man has now thanks to his appearances on Harley's Show. Also, people say they're sick of the big 3 getting new shows and films all the time, this D-List hero getting a show is great. DC is digging deep.

I'm for it.
Maybe we'll find out he can't support a whole show as a lead, or it'll be a one and done season. Oh well, lesson learned.
As much as I love comics and superheroes, seen through a certain lens there's a core of silliness behind the whole concept. So why is KiteMan any less serious than Batman or Plastic-man? I like when they dig up deep cuts or shine a light on some that maybe haven't been (I vastly preferred Justice League Unlimited to JL for that reason).
Between tellings and retellings and multiverses and Infinite Earths, there's unlimited ways to tell a story and use the characters.
Anyway, specific to Kite-man, yes he's a little annoying, but he showed some depth and spine later on in Harley's series, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. His balance between "yeah, I'm a badass bad guy" and "oh no I'm a total imposter" was well done and realistic, I thought.

With all the DC properties HBO has access to I still wish they’d do a semi-serious take on one of their characters like Animal Man, which lends itself perfectly to animation. It’s time for another “Spawn” like animated series on HBO.
Think if all the possibilities- A Detective Chimp procedural which explores the supernatural part of he DCU, how about a Deadman series? Timothy Hunter? Shade the Changing Man? So many possibilities.

The mayhem and madness continue in season three of this biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series. Wrapping up their “Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour,” Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) - "Harlivy" strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.
Season 3 of Harley Quinn premieres July 28 on HBO Max.

Looking forward to this. I need to go back and watch the last season again. I forgot where they left off with Kite Man and I don't see him in the teaser.

Putting James Gunn in the teaser was pretty cool.
Reminds me, I'm way behind on this show. I need to catch up.
