Season 29 was by far the worst season in the past decade of The Simpsons. For the most part, I had enjoyed the last decade of the show before last year.

Always look forward to new Simpsons. I think my DVR is set but I also purchased the season digitally from Amazon.

Jesus, thirty years. I remember walking over to my Grandmother's house to catch The Simpsons because our street didn't get good reception on Fox.

Cool 30 year opening.

Homer: "Whenever I see the DC logo I immediately fall asleep."

I have always watched the Simpsons, and I have always found it funny.

...King of the Hill did it.

The Simpsons airing with Bob's Burgers does it no favors.

Re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 30 Thread -- premieres 9/30/18

Alert! Alert!

I'm surprised to be the first one here with this news. In light of the Michael Jackson documentary getting some so much attention, producers from the Simpsons are literally removing the episode featuring him from season three permanently from syndication, streaming and home video. It's being removed entirely and is going to receive the same treatment Disney gives Song of the South. James L. Brooks on Twitter has already said it's going to be permanently wiped out.

It's the first episode of season three - DVD sets in circulation just became collector's items. The people in charge of Simpsons have made some increasingly questionable decisions in the past two years. This is why I will never trust Hollywood's streaming product...

Re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 30 Thread -- premieres 9/30/18

Thatís exactly the sort of thing Iím talking about when I say itís bad to entrust everything to digital. People here laughed a few years ago when I suggested all Bryan Singer movies might be pulled from streaming, hypothetically at least. Doesnít matter if Michael Jackson was a cannibal, the episode should still be available to see.

Re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 30 Thread -- premieres 9/30/18

I have the season 3 dvds and I bought the episode off of Vudu. Pulling it from syndication is one thing, but it should still be around on dvd or by means of streaming networks. I just checked and "Stark Raving Dad" is still on VUDU and Amazon Prime.

That's too bad. It's a good episode. I still make references to Homer getting his hand stamped INSANE.

Re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 30 Thread -- premieres 9/30/18

I have all the DVD sets and donít intend on getting rid of them so Iíll have a copy of the episode for as long as it lasts. Iíd almost consider grabbing a second set of that season just in case but itís already going up in price like mentioned. Itís a tough spot to be put in Iím sure. That documentary is pretty damning. Keep the episode available and you get people after you, take it away and fans are upset.

Yep. Still available for purchase everywhere (Vudu, iTunes, Amazon streaming), pulled from broadcast and Simpsons world.

Re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 30 Thread -- premieres 9/30/18

It's already been confirmed by producers it's going to get pulled from streaming sites. I fear this is going to become more widespread in music - many Canadian radio stations have already blacklisted Jackson's music from what I've heard. By many respected measurements, MJ is the best-selling musician of all time across the globe. If it can happen to him, it can happen to any actor or musician.

Anyone relying on streaming by corporations to preserve music and films in this Brave New World is foolish at best.

Re: The Simpsons (FOX) -- Season 30 Thread -- premieres 9/30/18

They'll need to be specific. Pulled from Spotify or Hulu is one thing. Pulled from iTunes and Vudu is another. Pulled from "purchased" libraries would be the most unacceptable one.

I doubt they would pull it from digitally "owned" copies, but it will supposedly be removed for digital sale on sites like Amazon and Vudu.

Looks like there'll be a new "most pirated" episode in town.

Third season DVD sets are now going for over $100 on eBay.

Iím pretty sure not too long ago I saw some of the older season sets floating around in Walmart. I think for a while they were in the dump bins or maybe even had shelf spots. Canít remember if the third season was one or not but I kind of think it might have been.

"Going for" as in they're actually selling for that price, or people are just listing them at $100+?

Looks like they are selling for around $60-$70 somewhat consistently, with a few high and low outliers in the mix.

The episode in question has now been pulled from VUDU and presumably other streaming providers.
