This is what I’ve been saying for a while. They call their shows “originals”, but they weren’t since they were just distributing, now they truly will be moving forward. All the big drama stuff they license are ending. House of Cards, OitNB... We’ll be lucky if we get a 4th season of Stranger Things at this point. Now that they have a studio, there will be much fewer big expensive shows they license.

I hope this continues on Disney+.

Not putting out a fourth (and planned final) season of Stranger Things would probably lose them a lot good will and subscribers.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney wasn’t behind the cancellation of the Marvel series; they seem to want to keep most things in-house. They’ve been pulling their licesnses from Dark Horse Comics and handing them over to Marvel and Boom.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but all these stories floated about viewership, leads me to believe that they were leaked to lessen the blown for Netflix.

I would imagine we will be getting cancellation notices for Jessica Jones and Punisher after those seasons air.

Possible, but at the same time it's the third season of an expensive show that probably should have been a bigger pull than it actually was. A lot of the Marvel-based TV shows seem to have relatively low ratings (at least the other ones, Netflix and their "No ratings data" bullshit annoys me).

But then again, I also feel like that 1 month window Netflix gives shows to prove themselves is just an excuse to axe everything produced by an outside studio.

If Disney is going to stream all of the marvel shows and movies, as well as Star Wars shows and movies, maybe I'll just cancel Netflix and get a Disney+ subscription. If only they also owned Star Trek...

This is all about Disney not handing their future streaming rivals key content.

Disney likely threw out an outlandish number for Daredevil's season 4 to Netflix that was untenable. Now that Disney is in the streaming business, Netflix is their biggest threat.

This is just a cut-throat business move by Disney against Netflix.

I heard a theory that it's very unlikely the show will move to Disney Plus since Netflix still owns the license rights to the show along with Luke Cage and Iron Fist. You can't have the show existing on competing services and Netflix says they are keeping the existing seasons. If the Daredevil character comes back, it would probably be in a newly rebooted form in the MCU. Just a theory, but seems feasible.

This is just piss fest between Disney and Netflix because Disney had a relationship with them and now they're creating a competing service.

almost have to wonder if this is all a marketing ploy to get it renewed by fans...

i watched the first two seasons but have minimal interest in watching the peripheral shows to get current and watch the new season. I didn't like JJ or LC enough to watch those shows and couldn't bring myself to start Defenders...

BTW Hulu had a Black Friday sale a year for $1 a month. I have that now and will seriously evaluate if I need Netflix anymore.

The same was going on for Luke Cage S3... they kept all the teams (writers, post prod., etc.) together up until the announcement that is was cancelled and even then, they didn't pack up the offices right away.

This is what is the biggest factor. Not only that though, Netflix poached Shonda Rhimes and Kenya Barris from ABC. And Ryan Murphy who had a long-standing relationship with FOX, which will now be owned by Disney, signed a huge deal with Netflix.

First when they cancelled Iron Fist, and I did not speak speak out...because the show sucked.

Then when they cancelled Luke Cage, and I did not speak out....because there was Black panther.

Then when they cancelled Daredevil, and I did not speak out....Because the second season sucked.

But then when they finally cancelled Jessica Jones....and there was no one left to speak out on a DVD message board I finally realized it was too late, and the mouse had won.

All this dislike for season 2 of DD... am I the only one who liked it? Heck, more than liked it, I thought it was the best season of all the Marvel Netflix shows.

I liked Season 2. Elektra was fantastic.

I was accepting of Luke Cage and Iron Fost being cancelled because at least we still had DD and JJ. I imagine JJ will be cancelled after their next season and who knows if Punisher will come back at all.

I liked the Punisher eps of DD S2, but anything with Elektra was bad imo. Glad S3 didn't involve her.

There is a 100% chance both are coming back because the punisher finished filming and jj is currently filming. Both might have reduced episodes though especially jj. Both are getting canceled after the next seasons come out though.
