"I Love a Parade" - The Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan are going to be setting off more than a few fireworks when they get together at the annual Fourth of July parade where Jay will be acting as the grand marshal. "Modern Family" stars Ed O'Neill as Jay Pritchett, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Sofia Vergara as Gloria Pritchett, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker, Sarah Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy, Ariel Winter as Alex Dunphy, Rico Rodriguez as Manny Delgado, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily Tucker-Pritchett and Jeremy Maguire as Joe Pritchett.
Guest starring is Reid Ewing as Dylan Marshal and Chris Geere as Arvin Fennerman.
"I Love a Parade" was written by Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, and directed by Jim Bagdonas.

Ughh, can we please stop with talking about Ariel Winter like some sexual object? It’s old and disgusting.
I actually binged the last 16 episodes of season 9 over the last week before Hulu deleted them.
There were some funny episodes, but most were forgettable. But I’ve committed 9 years to this show, I’m going to see it through to the end.
BTW, I saw Sarah Hyland on some interview recently and she’s seen better days. I think her poor health has played a big role in it.

But, yea... maybe move her pictures to the "hottest person on TV" (or whatever it's called) thread... unless it's a shot from the new season because that would be more on topic.

So, it looks like they're trying to make Lily a sarcastic Aubrey Plaza-esque snot. If she was a better actress she might be able to pull it of.

Not a very good episode to start the season. I didn't find much or any of the jokes that funny. The hot dog eating contest with Phil and Luke was kind of dumb.
And yeah it does seem like they're making Lily into one of those smart mouth kids.
Weird that they made this take place in July. Manny was still driving to Delaware as last season left off with.

I slightly chuckled at the video Cam and Mitchell made, and that was it. Not a good episode.
Something going on with Hyland's hair? Wearing a hat in every scene except in the hospital (illogical and continuity with last season) - and it looked like she was wearing a wig there.
We really don't need to see Dylan any more.

Is Dylan going to come out as gay this season? I thought that was the direction of Dylan and Haley's scenes.

Last night's the highlight was the dynamic between Phil and Jay. I dislike the conversation about Alex and her boyfriend having the hot sex and Phil being uncomfortable. It made me feel awkward and uncomfortable.
After that Single Parents so I went to bed early.

They recycled a partial storyline/gag of Gloria/Jay thinking Manny made up the girlfriend in Canada and making up her name based on items he saw in front of him (Cherry Shaker), with Claire/Phil thinking Alex did the same thing with her "imaginary" boyfriend a few seasons back. Fortunately it was a small part of the episode.
Phil hearing about Alex having sex has been done once before too, but with different details and reactions.
You know it's time to quit when you recycled stuff.
Odd that it took so long for a storyline about questioning Manny's sexual preference. I wouldn't be surprised if the actor was really gay too.
EDIT: Also, with Dylan being brought back into a running storyline - I'm now leaning towards him being the "significant character" that dies. It'll provide a few episodes of story line content and show a different side of the Haley character.

Combined with some events in my own life, and with the recent Kavanaugh/Ford story, I've been making a conscious decision to be respectful at all times with my comments about women. Even if the woman in question cannot hear my comments, and I'm relatively anonymous. So with that in mind, I'll just say that Sarah Hyland was quite pretty in last night's episode, and leave it at that.

Oh, and while it's a well they've gone to several times, I did chuckle at this exchange.
Claire: I'll go check on the cake
Hailey: Ooh, bring me a glass of "cake" too!

I'd also recommend attending a production of Avenue Q to see what the MF writers were going for with that particular plotline...

Ariel Winter just said in an interview that the character who's going to die isn't an older character you think is going to be the one, which means it's probably not going to be DeeDee or Frank, or even Jay.

Luke is going to get killed doing something stupid and nobody really misses him.

I couldn't quite make out the red thing Dylan was wearing. Was it a heart, or a Star Trek uniform?
