No kidding. All signs are pointing to Dylan dying - unless they're using him as a red herring and will kill off some other unimportant character.

Hyland's eyebrows... jesus. Like a couple caterpillars glued above her eyes.

She is losing her hair. Maybe her eyebrows are falling out too and makeup got carried away?

Once again a lackluster episode. Phil was smooth though in telling how he fell for Claire.

DVR caught off the very end. Did they say anything after "...died peacefully..."?

Are you talking about DeeDee or the show? Because the show doesn't seem to want to die. Luke has grown so Lilly is now in charge of the snark and sarcasm. The difference is Luke always had a great delivery. Lilly's delivery is as dead as Shelly Long's character is now.

On the trip's final morning, Dee Dee was found in her room, she had apparently passed peacefully in her sleep, as a smile graced her face and her hands clutched 10 pages of suggestions for the hotel staff.

Claire: "That is so mom.."

Mitchell: "easy..."

Re: Modern Family (ABC) -- Season 10 Thread -- premieres 9/26/18

Oddly enough, possibly the funniest episode of the season so far.

Cameron: I'm sure she's with old friends now, and they're saying

Doorbell: WELCOME TO HELL!

And I'm really surprised they got away with Hailey saying "Alex is taking it harder than anyone right now"

I still think something is gonna happen with Dylan though.

Read that the Twitterverse was in an uproar for calling DeDe a major character.

I thought they said a "significant" character, which I'll grant is a bit of a weasel word, but (to me) implies someone like DeDe, and not a trully minor or former character, the Dunphy's redneck neighbors, or one of Clarie's assistants, or Rainer Shine, Haley's old weatherman boyfriend.

Well they didn't say major... they said "significant". Although I'm not sure Dee Dee can be considered significant to the viewers - only to the characters.

Dee Dee was my first guess until the were shining the spotlight on Dylan, and then I dropped her to second. They tricked me.

I don't think we saw Phil reminisce about his mom after she died, but he did when his MIL died. I guess because we never saw his mom on the show.

They really don't want to give Lilly much to do as she's gotten older. She'll just throw in a comment or two but isn't given a story line. Maybe it's because she's such a stoic actor - as much personality as a cardboard cutout.

Wow, it seems they really are all deeply affected by the death of DeDe. I feel so bad for all the characters as they struggle each day through their grief. When will they ever return to their usual antics?

So Phil's fulfilling a life-long dream of teaching - which we never heard about until last weeks episode.

Maybe I'm forgetting from last season - but what happened to Phil's magic shop that he bought?
And what happened to the parking lot Phil and Jay owned?

Re: Modern Family (ABC) -- Season 10 Thread -- premieres 9/26/18

Well, I certainly don't want the death of Dede to be a several episode story arc. I'm sure they'll revisit it later in the season with a memorial service, scattering of the ashes goes bad, credits, kind of episode.

I did like the late episode twist that revealed
Spoiler:
Paige WAS trying to get with Phil

George Lucas doing a Q&A after a screening of Empire Strikes Back? Funniest thing they've said on the show in a long time.

That was a slog of an episode. Not really sure what happened since I completely zoned out. Haley is pregnant and Alex was complaining she doesn't get to discuss getting laid with her mom? Fun stuff.

Alex did look like a knockout in that red dress.

I am interested in Haley's storyline for maybe the first time in the show's history.

Re: Modern Family (ABC) -- Season 10 Thread -- premieres 9/26/18

My wife and I were watching wondering if the Haley story might bring up abortion which would be a big issue for the show to tackle. But no, they didn't go there.

The younger kids are barely on the show, not that Lilly or Joe's actors act well enough to make you miss them. The older kids are sporadically on the show and are only there to talk about how they're getting laid. The adults now have to carry the show even more and the result is just wacky misadventure of the week type stuff. Time to wrap this thing up.

I thought this was one of the funniest episodes in some time. I loved the football coaching storyline.

"Coach Tucker has value and I admire and respect him!"

Re: Modern Family (ABC) -- Season 10 Thread -- premieres 9/26/18

Not sure if it was the lighting or what, but the scene in the car with Phil and Mitchell - Phil looked like he aged 10 years.

It was lame how they're trying hard to equate Dylan as a young Phil by basically making it seem like Phil was a useless idiot when she knocked Claire up. They've changed Phil's backstory to force the viewer to like Dylan more. Dylan also now seems less stupid and immature and they're trying to make him look like a potentially good father. This reeks of HIMYM and continually forcing Ted and Robin together.

Andy seemed like the best fit for Haley. He's basically a young Phil and someone the audience generally doesn't hate and every character likes. Should've brought him back.

Alex looked pretty hot in that dress. Haley's wig is distracting.

I was hoping it would turn out to be the scientist's baby.

Still could be. Remember, it's Hailey that "did the math"
