Mr Inbetween, the new half-hour drama series created by and starring Scott Ryan, will premiere in September on FX. In Mr Inbetween, Ryan plays "Ray Shoesmith," a father, ex-husband, boyfriend and best friend: tough roles to juggle in the modern age. Even harder when you're a criminal for hire. The six-episode season, written by Ryan and directed by Nash Edgerton, stars Ryan, Damon Herriman, Justin Rosniak, Brooke Satchwell, Jackson Tozer, Nicholas Cassim, Chika Yasumura and Matt Nable. The series was shot in Australia and is produced by Blue-Tongue Films and Jungle Entertainment, in association with FX Productions, Screen Australia and Create NSW. Ryan, Edgerton and Jason Burrows are Executive Producers and Michele Bennett is Producer.

It's two eps next week, too, so essentially it's a three-week series, I guess.

It is an odd show, but I'm really enjoying it. I liked how Ray calmly diffused the new gf's concern about his being a psycho when he explained why waiting for the second guy to get out of the car would have been bad.

Glad it's getting a second season.

Just watched this over the weekend. Thought it was fantastic. Can't wait for season 2.

Weird that my DVR didn't record it. One of the few highlights of last year's crop of new shows.

I finally caught up with season 2. Am surprised this doesn't generate more chatter around here. Season 2 was 11 episodes (up from 6 in season 1) and included some heavy themes while maintaining some balance between comedy amid the dark material. Highly recommended for those that haven't watched. Episodes are 30 mins and are still on the FX app.

Since the last season aired I tracked down and watched the movie. It's very low budget, and not really much that the show hasn't also done with better production value. Recommended only for the curious.

Season 3 premiered on Tuesday. Such an underrated show. Good start. Bad ass opening.

This show is so damn bleak. Ray knows he's in a messed up situation and that everyone he touches gets hurt but he's in too deep to ever get out without a bullet. The show packs more into its 20 minute runtime than most bloated programs can cover in over an hour.
