I’m apparently in the minority, but I’m enjoying this season a lot. Loving how threads from past seasons are coming together.

Was indifferent about the season until tonight. Dug this one.

Something about an actor playing two roles in the same episode (like with Paulson) irks me a bit. Still, I'm glad to see them mostly move away from the annoying outpost crew.

Did I miss the explanation of how Myrtle Snow came back? Guess they haven't gotten to that yet.

Now that they are finally connecting the previous seasons, and have dumped most of the new "characters" it's been enjoyable. The flashback at the Cortez was well done. Looking forward to when they start pulling the Murder House season more into the mix.

Wow. I so missed the politics of the coven and the endless bickering, I'm really glad it's back.

This last episode was the most I’ve enjoyed this show in years.

I felt the same way. It was a good interesting backstory.

Loving this. Didn’t know it would be so Coven heavy. The show can take a turn at almost anytime.

Why? Seriously, what is it about the constant bickering ("He can be a supreme." "No he can't" "Yes he can") is so compelling? I've been a fan of this show for a long time, but this is really starting to test my patience.

Yikes. Coven was by far the worst season IMO.

The circus one was the only one I bailed on.

I swear I am not threadcrapping, but for those of you enjoying the current storyline, could you elaborate as to why? Because I can't for the life of me see the appeal. And yes, I could just stop watching (and it's something I'm considering), but I've watched the previous 7 seasons beginning-to-end and feel pot-committed at this point.

I re-watched this week's ep, just to see if I missed anything. I counted THREE separate arguments as to whether Michael should be allowed to do the "Seven Wonders" test, which isn't even that interesting to begin with.
Is it the callback to previous seasons?
Is it the resurrection (literally) of favorite characters from those seasons?
Are you Fleetwood Mac fans?

Same.

I thought it was the worst until the Roanoke and Cult seasons came along. If not for the promised return to S1 and S3 I would have bailed on the series completely.

Love the production. It’s just an all around fun show.

I do tire of the character who’s bickering seems fake. I wasn’t buying the two warlocks arguing. Previously it was the nuclear fallout boyfriend bit. The show has its low points. But I think it’s a really fun supernatural story.

For what it’s worth, I think the first season was the only one that really thrilled me. Other seasons have been moving, fun, or just gross.

Curious how the incorporate Murder House into the next episode.

If you watched the first season don't you remember the name Michael Langdon know why the house is important?

I know he is the Antichrist baby from Season One. In the last shot of the last episode, they show the house. I’m guessing the whole next episode(s) take place there. I wonder if any of the characters will be back. Old maid. Hot maid. Maybe some spandex dude backstory. I have fond memories of that first season.

But who knows. I love how this show manages to make so many major turns. Not many shows are willing (or can’t afford) to do that. We could have just as well been spending the whole seasons with those assholes from the first few episodes.

Spoiler:
Reportedly Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, and Jessica Lange are back along with the characters that are played by those that have already been part of this season. Haven't heard anything aaobut the hot maid being back.

I know we're meant to suspend disbelief, but having Cordelia send Madison and warlock guy to the murder house where they immediately run into the psychic who (to the audience, anyway) looks exactly like Cordelia must be very confusing for anyone new to this series.

It was great having Lange back, but parts of the episode felt a bit too fanfic for my liking. I thought it was a fitting conclusion to have Tate forced to live out eternity being ignored by the object of his affection. But now it turns out he might have been corrupted by evil forces all along and therefore deserves a happy ending with Violet? Bleh.

For a while there I thought we were only going to see Connie Britton's character in flashback footage, so it was nice to see they managed to get her back for the last act -- even if Vivien was only used as one big exposition dump.

re: American Horror Story: Apocalypse (FX) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 9/12/18

I was really hoping we would get more of the returning Murder House characters. But sadly that may be it. Still was a fun hour.

I don't think that is the first time they have had one of the cast play more than one character in the same season. At a minimum Sarah Paulson had done it before.

I was starting to sour on this season, but the Murder House was great to get back to. Missed hot maid though.

And the "tear jerker"

Haha. That was great that they turned that scene upside down Joss Whedon style.

re: American Horror Story: Apocalypse (FX) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 9/12/18

Sheesh, looks like the last 2 or 3 episodes didn’t create a single comment! The season was kinda treading water for too many episodes, so I can’t say I’m surprised.
The finale did pretty much exactly what was expected. It was... fine, I guess. Michael dying from getting run over by a car was a bit of a lame way for an Anti-Christ to go out. It was cool seeing the couple from the beginning again, and using their relationship to show that Satan doesn’t give up.
My ranking of the seasons, best to worst:
1. Asylum
2. Murder House
3. Coven
4. Apocalypse
5. Hotel
6. Freak Show
7. Cult
8. Roanoke

re: American Horror Story: Apocalypse (FX) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 9/12/18

Run over by a car? Seriously? I was at least hoping for a Baby Hitler type scenario.

This season was like the last few - so much potential, but terrible execution. Still not the worst though.

It's sad I didn't even realize the couple at the end were the two from the beginning. I guess that's what happens when you completely turn heel on the plot mid-season. Plus way too much time spent on exposition in the second half of the season. Probably would have been better when binged.

I'd go:

1. Murder House
2. Asylum
3. Roanoke
4. Cult
5. Freak Show - sucked too much to finish
6. Hotel - sucked too much to finish

7. Coven

I guess I can skip Apocalypse
