Dawn Wells-200 grand in debt(GoFundme.com)

I read this somewhere(I have memory loss issues) yesterday and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) from Gilligans Island has had some health issues and bad investments and now is asking for fan's too help her out.

It sound's like she is currently not in good health.

I will admit she is on dvd-4-life's hot top five female tv actresses from the 1960's and possibly the best looking over that time period.

Re: Dawn Wells-200 grand in debt(GoFundme.com)

For those interested....

My dearest friend and YOUR favorite castaway, Dawn Wells ( Mary Ann from ‘Gillian’s Island’ )
needs YOU !

After 2008, like many of us, Dawn suffered through the banking crash and lost everything including her life savings in addition, to a life -threatening surgery which came close to killing her.
Dawn was a victim of an unexpected accident that required hospitalization for two months and a very long time to rest and heal
Dawn needs $194,000 to alleviate penalties by the IRS( which are compounded daily) and to pay her hospital costs
Dawn is living one of the greatest fears we Americans have, an uncertain future. Should any of you out there wish to contribute a small some to help a woman who gave so many people Joy over the years, it would be so appreciated. God Bless

It's odd to hear all the health issues, as she seems quite fine in this video from Niagara Falls Comic-Con, in June.

It is unfortunate if she is in poor health, but a GoFundme to pay tax penalties and recover from bad investment decisions? In other words, she had income and money but she made poor decisions with both.

Re: Dawn Wells-200 grand in debt(GoFundme.com)

From some documentary I saw, she is the only one from the cast of GI that made any money. Somehow she got a residual from repeats and syndication in an era when that didn't happen.

However the woman is 80 years old and is apparently in need of a skilled nursing facility. I know from personal experience that seniors can go downhill VERY quickly from a variety of ailments. They usually have a laundry list of problems and when something else pops up, it can put them in dire straights. Even with the Parkinson's my mom was fine for a long time, but she had a fast moving form of the Lewie Boddy Dementia so with in 3 months my sister couldn't care for her, 3 months later assisted living said they couldn't care for her. The nursing home my mom was in was $13,000 a month until she got on Medicaid.

In the Ginger or Maryann debate, I was always firmly in the Maryann camp.

That’s just an awful picture of her too. I Googled her after seeing that and there are other pictures where she doesn’t look that bad. Plus yeah, she’s not a spring chicken anymore.

There is an updated article at Fox News and it noted that as of Wednesday her fans have raised 197,000 dollars.

She admits that she still has the shorts she was going too wear for season 4 (that never happened).

She looks like her body was recently recovered from the slopes of Everest after a failed summit attempt some time in the late 18th century.

Fascinating ... that such a long-loved show only went on for three seasons. I never knew that.

It ran repeatedly in syndication at least through the late 1980s. The show grew in stature after seeing it replayed so much on television.

She was selling her autographs at a lot of shows. Possible now that she is not able to get around on her own, she can't get to the shows anymore.

That was an urban legend. She said "I didn't make a dime" from syndication.

I think she made like $750 a week while filming the show.
