Bosch (Amazon) -- Season 1 Thread -- S: Titus Welliver -- premiere 2/13/15

I'm a huge fan, so if they do this right, this could be good.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/243...es-a-tv-series

Author Michael Connelly, "Treme" producer Eric Overmyer are teaming up to develop and co-write a TV series based on Connelly’s best-selling detective novels featuring the character of Harry Bosch says The Hollywood Reporter.

Fuse Entertainment, the company behind "Burn Notice" and "The Killing", are backing the procedural about the driven, jazz-loving detective notorious for his anti-authoritarian attitude and active love life. Connelly has penned seventeen books featuring the character.

Bosch is also the half-brother of L.A. defense attorney Mickey Haller, the character played by Matthew McConaughey in "The Lincoln Lawyer". Connelly is also adapting 'Lincoln' into a drama series for ABC.

Good to hear. Curious what network will pick this up.

I'd prefer a cable network, so it can be a little edgier. So thoughts about casting for Harry?

The Bosch character must be in his 60s by this point, having served in Vietnam, but I can't imagine that being followed for a TV series.

Bryan Cranston is done with Breaking Bad, I can picture him as Bosch.

Cranston isn't done with breaking bad yet. They've only filmed the first 8 episodes. They are on hiatus and will come back later to film the last 8. he actually was in the Lincoln Lawyer movie, but not as Bosch. I'm still trying to figure out who would be a good actor to play him. I'm thinking it has to be someone in his 40's or early 50's.

I'm a big Connelly fan so I hope this gets made. No guesses for casting, but I hope they don't screw it up.

Nice fucking spoiler with the Bosch/Haller brotherhood

This would only work if it were set in the 90's with Bosch constantly having to ask people to use their phones.

Re: Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch coming to TV...

I love Bosch, but I am shocked by this. I know in the past Connelly was hesitant to bring Bosch to movies, so I am surprised that he will be bringing him to TV.

FWIW, when he discussed who he saw as playing Bosch, in the past he mentioned that he thought that Hugh Laurie would be what Bosch looked like, but the last time that he was asked (the last I read anyway), he said that he thought that it should be Billy Burke.

Michael Connelly says he sees 'Twilight' dad as Harry Bosch

no offense but this was revealed in a book that was released many years ago. not that much different than a tv/movie spoiler. once something has been out years, it's pretty much fair game.

I remember reading that. I think Burke would be a good choice. At the time figuring on some sort of theatrical movie I was thinking good luck with that, but as a tv show I would think Burke is definitely a viable candidate. He needs to keep the mustache though.

^^ The problem with Billy Burke is that he's the lead of the new series Revolution, which airs this Fall.

It's on NBC on Monday night. Chances are it will air less than five episodes.

Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

this is a show I can get behind! I love the books!

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/274...osch-tv-series

Amazon Studios has greenlit its first drama pilot, the police procedural "Bosch".

The series will be based on Michael Connelly‘s novels about Harry Bosch, a veteran police homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Connelly and Treme co-creator/executive producer Eric Overmeyer penned the pilot.

Hope they do a better job casting Bosch than they did with Reacher.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

since it appears Connelly is helping, I'd imagine he's probably get some input on who is cast as Bosch.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

I've been to a few Connelly readings. This question is asked frequently and the popular choice seems to be Mark Ruffalo -- I think the author even mentioned he liked the idea.

Ruffalo seems like a good choice, but is probably too famous for the role.

Even though he played in a bungled version of The Dresden Files, I think Paul Blackthorne would be a good fit.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

In an interview with EW around the time the Lincoln Lawyer movie came out, Connelly put his support behind Billy Burke as Bosch. Unfortunately, Revolution actually stuck so that seems unlikely. Too bad, b/c I think he would have been a fine choice.

He's on Arrow now, so that would be difficult.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Arrow starts off a bit rough the first 6-10 episodes but then really picks up. Will most likely be a first day buy on Blu if the price is decent.
