Arrow is really good, IMHO.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Will be curious to know what book they choose to start with and how they plan on handling the storytelling if it's successful enough to get multiple seasons. Maybe they'd combine multiple books into a single season, who knows.

Maybe McConaughey will show up as Mickey Haller at some point since he'll already be appearing on the small screen over on HBO.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Looks Harry has been cast. Interesting choice. Not at all who I pictured, but I like him, so this could be good.

EXCLUSIVE: Veteran character actor Titus Welliver is getting his due, landing his first series lead role. I’ve learned that the Lost and Sons Of Anarchy alum has been tapped to play the title character in Amazon’s first drama pilot Bosch, a police procedural based on Michael Connelly‘s novels about Harry Bosch (Welliver), a veteran police homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. The pilot was written by Connelly and Treme co-creator Eric Overmeyer, who are executive producing with Fabrik’s Henrik Bastin and Mikkel Bondesen. Bosch has been at the center of or featured in 20 novels by Connelly over the past two decades.

If this is successful, hopefully Universal (since I think they have the rights to all the novels) will take notice and do a good Lucas Davenport series. The two that have been made were crap.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Welliver is actually a really good choice for Bosch, based on previous descriptions given. Connelly did mention Billy Burke, but prior to that, he said that Bosch looked like Hugh Laurie, which Welliver has a strong resemblance IMO.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

I always pictured someone older like Laurie. Not sure exactly what actor fit the bill, but Welliver seems a tad young for the part. I just hope this is good. I love the book series.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Connelly just tweeted this:

@Connellybooks: Rumor has it that Titus Welliver is Bosch. Now that would make me a happy man. Stay tuned, more details soon... MC

Good casting. And we already know with absolute certainty that he can wear a mustache.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

FYI, the Bosch pilot came online today and is now streaming on Amazon here. Viewers in the UK can access the episode here.

Reminder, that this is a pilot test. After the episode there will be a few survey questions and a rating system. If the results are positive, Amazon Studios will produce additional episodes to air later this year.

The pilot will be available to watch free for 30 days.

I don't think enough time was spent in the pilot showing him inventing the dishwasher.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Just finished watching it. It is good if you are a fan of the novels. Pretty slow moving for a premiere, which might turn some people off. They seem to be laying the groundwork for a season, with a very specific plot point. A funny reunion with Reddick (Lt. Daniels) and Hector (Marlo Stanfield) from the Wire, though, and this time they are both on the same side of the law. Some nice easter eggs for fans of the novels. Harry's house and the music he plays is what you'd expect if you've read the books. Also, a certain former member here who is friends with Mr. Connelly got a nice name drop as a character. I still am having difficulty with Welliver as Bosch, though. I love Welliver as an actor, but he's not who I see in my mind when I read the books. The ending is very abrupt, so you don't really get any resolution for either of the 2 main plot points.

Overall, the production value seems to be on par with a broadcast television show. I enjoyed it and will continue to watch if it comes back. It is one of the highest rated pilots right now for them, so I'd say it has a good chance.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Not available in Canada yet. Too bad, I'm a big Connelly fan and have read all of his books. Looking forward to this. From what I have read elsewhere, seems to be getting pretty good reviews.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

there is another show available called The After from Cris Carter of X-Files fame. Decent but the French accent from the one lady got a bit on my nerves. Sharon Lawrence, Jamie Kennedy, Aldis Hodge, Adrian Pasdar and Arrielle Kebbel star.

I liked it. This is my first exposure to the character. I expect this to get picked up; perhaps I'll read some of the books while we wait for new episodes.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Haven't seen it yet but will watch it just for Titus Welliver.

But the last thing viewers need is another crime show/police procedural.

I guess the best thing I can say about it is that I'd like to find out what happens next.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

Watched it last night. Thought it was good, not great. I think Welliver is a decent fit for the role and has the potential to develop it into something special if this gets picked up. Well rounded cast and the 'mood' seems to be on par with what fans should expect. The editing seemed a bit rough around the edges which was really my only gripe. I'm sure they'll fine tune it and just need to work out the kinks that come with virtually all pilot episodes.

As Deftones mentioned, several easter eggs peppered in throughout. Blink and you'll miss Connelly's cameo as Santa Claus in the opening minutes.

Re: Amazon plans Harry Bosch TV series...

It's been years since I read this book, can someone spoiler how it plays out? I did a quick search but didn't find anything conclusive.
