Some Bruce Lee background/Behind the scenes featurettes

The 1st part aired after Strike Back on Friday. Shannon Lee was interviewed. I believe there will be 8 parts of this.

re: Warrior (Now on Max) -- From the creator of Banshee and Justin Lin

The drama series WARRIOR begins its ten-episode season FRIDAY, APRIL 5 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on CINEMAX. Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, the show is based on the writings of martial arts legend Bruce Lee and is created and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (CINEMAX's "Banshee") under Tropper Ink Productions, executive produced by Justin Lin (director of "Fast & Furious 6") for Perfect Storm Entertainment and executive produced by Shannon Lee for Bruce Lee Entertainment. Starring Andrew Koji ("Fast & Furious 6") as martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm, WARRIOR also features series regulars Kieran Bew ("The Street"), Olivia Cheng ("Marco Polo"), Dianne Doan ("Vikings"), Dean Jagger (HBO's "Game of Thrones"), Langley Kirkwood ("Invictus"), Hoon Lee (CINEMAX's "Banshee"), Christian McKay ("Me and Orson Welles"), Joe Taslim ("Fast & Furious 6"), Jason Tobin ("The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift"), Joanna Vanderham ("The Paradise"), Tom Weston-Jones ("Copper") and Perry Yung (CINEMAX's "The Knick"). WARRIOR is a gritty, action-packed crime drama set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco's Chinatown in the second half of the 19th century. The series follows Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a hatchet man for the Hope Wei, one of Chinatown's most powerful tongs (Chinese organized crime family). Befriended by Wang Chao (Hoon Lee), a fixer and profiteer in Chinatown, Ah Sahm is taken under the wing of Young Jun (Jason Tobin), the hard-partying son of the Hop Wei's leader, Father Jun (Perry Yung), who is facing an imminent opium war with a rival tong. As he is indoctrinated in the rules of Chinatown gangs, Ah Sahm wins the confidence of a canny brothel madam, Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng), revealing to her the true intentions of his journey to America.

Really enjoyed the first episode. I like the decision to quickly shift to using modern colloquial English instead of sticking with subtitles or period correct modes of speech. Sure it takes place 150 years ago but they're obviously going all in with the parallels to modern society so the abrupt shift makes sense.

Fun 1st episode. Andrew Koji was pretty badass with some of his fight moves. And I liked his attitude and sarcasm.

Nice to see Hoon Lee back as well.

I had a feeling that Ah Sahm would hook up with the sexy Madam. Olivia Cheng is pretty hot fully nude.

So it is worth checking out? I have the first 2 recorded, but haven't watched. I was just going to cancel Cinemax now that SB is over.

Martial arts and naked women, what's not to like. Plus, the repression of Asians really gets your emotions running high on revenge.

I liked the 1st episode as I said above, but haven't had the chance to see the 2nd one.

I mean if you're looking to try to save some money then fine, but Warrior is airing through early summer and then after that is the new Carla Gugino show Jett that will air for a few months in the summer. So Cinemax does have shows on Fridays for several more months.

re: Warrior (Now on Max) -- From the creator of Banshee and Justin Lin

Spent last night catching up on a few shows and caught up with episodes 2-4 of this.

Pretty good so far. I love the setting and the dynamic between the Chinese gangs and their dealings with the law and corrupt officials in past San Francisco.

I was not surprised that Ah Sahm hooked up with the mayor's wife in the most recent episode. They definitely hinted some kind of connection after he saved her and then talked to him in jail. I have a feeling that Penny's husband is going to be a big thorn on Ah Sahm.

and I love Ah Toy. Not only is she smoking hot, but I love how she's a badass and is cool bribing dirty cops like Bill. Seems like Lee is the Dudley Doo right of this show.

For a guy who's pretty much an unknown, I've been impressed with Andrew Koji and his acting/fight skills. If you have Cinemax and like pulpy action, martial arts, and hot women, you gotta get on this show.

and Young Jun (Jason Tobin) is a psychopath. I think it was episode 2 where he hacked up those guys and hacked up that guy's throat even though he was long dead.

and if you're watching this on Cinemax, make sure you don't delete your recordings right away. There's a behind the scenes feature that plays after each episode similar to what HBO does with some of their shows. It's actually pretty interesting stuff.

I finally got to episode 5 last night and that was a fantastic episode. It was indeed like a mini Western. The fight scenes were awesome and loved how Ah Sahm and Young Jun just went balls out crazy in that climatic fight scene. I when Ah Sahm tore that guys throat out.

Overall a really strong season, set up the environment and characters really well

Fight scenes top notch and just the right amount

Episode 10 felt it should have been the first episode of Season 2

Catching up on this show this summer, and I watched episode 5 tonight. Thought it was as good as any hour of TV that I've seen this year.

I watched this over the last week and finished tonight, I dig it and I'm in for the series. The lead is likeable and the action is solid. Cool to see Job from Banshee with a significant role. I like how the spoken language changes depending on who's perspective we're hearing it from.
