re: World of Dance (NBC) -- Discussion Thread
Each show has it's strengths and weaknesses (though SYTYCD will probably never be as good as it's 2nd through 4th seasons when Fox seemed to leave them alone). WOD's focus is on mostly on having one great audition piece, and SYTYCD focuses on Choreography and the dancer's ability to adapt. Contemporary dancers really get to shine on SYTYCD, while they just get burned up on WOD, because they need a routine to showcase what they can do, -how they can use their bodies to interpret material, rather than just show how flexible they are. Last year, Eva Igo was really impressive, but she really had only one routine that she ended up repeating over and over; this year she was out after one duel.
Both shows are burdened with weeks and weeks of "Audition" episodes, which sort of "pay" for the "Performance" episodes. |

The girl and boy at the end of last week's episode who got perfect scores of 100 were pretty amazing
