Yes it;s owned by CBS, but was licensed out to NBC.

CBS All-Access currently carries the entire series.

Frasier and Niles decide to go into business together and start a restaurant. Daphne is married to Niles, so she would tag along for the ride.

Roz? I don't know. Maybe she moved to Chicago or something, and found a restaurant Frasier and Niles were interested in buying. So the three of them end up moving to Chicago to retire and buy a high-end restaurant.

Another city?

Maybe he becomes jaded with the psychiatry business, relocates to Chicago, and for a fresh start, changes his name to Tom Kane and runs for mayor. There could be a series in that.

I'd watch, but not on CBS All Access, but that is where it'll probably wind up.

From what I heard it may focus on the relationship between Fraiser and his son Freddy, who will be more like Fraiser's father than Fraiser.

re: Frasier Revival coming to Paramount+

TVLine has learned exclusively that Paramount+ — the streamer soon to be formerly known as CBS All Access — is circling the years-in-the-making project, which would find Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane. (Frasier is, of course, a Paramount property.)

A Paramount+ rep did not respond to TVLine’s request for comment. A CBS TV Studios spokesperson, meanwhile, declined to comment.

News of the potential new iteration first broke in July 2018. At the time, it was revealed that the revival would find Grammer’s Seattle-based shrink decamping to a different city. The following month, Grammer stressed that the quality threshold was understandably high given the original series’ stories history (Frasier garnered 37 Emmys during its 11-season run).

“[We] have to make sure it’s going to be a great show,” he noted at the time. “If it’s not a great show, and if we don’t hear a pitch that hits it out of the park, it probably won’t happen.”

In addition to Grammer, the comedy starred David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane, Frasier’s younger brother; Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon, Frasier’s live-in housekeeper and Niles’ eventual love interest; Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle, the producer of Frasier’s radio show; and the late John Mahoney as Martin Crane, Frasier’s father.

According to sources, the hope is that Pierce, Leeves and Gilpin would all be involved in the revival in some capacity. If the project is greenlit (and an insider maintains that it is still very much in the if stage), we’re told shooting could begin as early as this summer (after Grammer wraps production on Season 1 of his forthcoming, untitled ABC multi-cam comedy co-starring Alec Baldwin).

As previously reported, CBS All Access is set to be rebranded as Paramount+ on March 4. The new service will combine original content with shows from CBS and cable outlets MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Paramount Network and Nickelodeon.

Sure I'd watch. Would like Laura Linney to be involved as well, but would understand if that's not possible.

Since we can't have Martin, I want them to bring in Maris.

Played by Juliet Landau.

I liked the character of Frasier on Cheers, but I don’t think I’ve ever watched a full episode of Frasier.

I did a rewatch of Cheers a few years ago and was going to follow it by watching the episodes of Frasier that featured other Cheers characters. I watched one episode of Frasier and decided to not bother.

Come to think of it I think I did watch an episode or at least part of one that featured Carla, Norm, and Cliff.

Frasier (the show) was a lot different from Cheers. I'll still watch this revival but it's just not going to be the same without the Martin character around.

Not only was Frasier way more popular than Mad About You, that revival was on a service almost nobody had. Not saying this will be a smash hit, but that was a terrible example to use. The tepid reception to Will & Grace return or the disastrous Murphy Brown reboot would have been a much better choice if you wanted to make a point.

Right, I get that. I was using Mad About You since it was only on Spectrum while Frazier might be on Peacock. Similar in some form (exclusive to a TV provider - the other a streamer) instead of a show like WAG or MB which was on traditional broadcast.

I can’t think of anything really comparable, since the other reboots on streamers are very different (saved by the bell, punky Brewster).

Oh my gosh. My wife and I just watched the first episode of the Mad About You reboot and holy heck... it was truly awful. We were amazed at how depressingly bad it was.

Re: Frasier Revival coming to Paramount+

Now it's official. Expected to be a 10 episode order.

In February of 2021 when this thread was last active, it was apparently only in development.

I definitely check it out. It's too bad John Mahoney passed away. It would have been good to see him pop up for a guest appearance occasionally.

Understandable, but Peacock is a mess. Aren't there 3 tiers of Peacock and some depend if you are a Comcrap subscriber?

It would be cool to see a revival. Kelsey knows how to milk the Frasier character.

Cool...but who is the audience for this? No one tuned into MAD ABOUT YOU.
