That actually looks like something that would air on CW, not DC Universe

That preview does make it look like a family friendly CW show.

Because DCU likely won't even exist by the time this launches, unless its a tab on HBO MAX.

Time to dig up that post in the Swamp Thing thread....

The budget for this show does not look CW-Like. I shudder to think what S2 would look like if its 100% CW (probably as bad as Supergirl did)

The budget looks way above normal CW standards. Which makes sense, this was supposed to be a flagship series for the DCU streaming service. The budget is going to get severely cut once the CW is paying most of the freight. The show is already finished and in the can for season one.

I imagine plans for an expansive look at the Justice Society roster will have to be cut back in future seasons.

The trailer looked great - maybe gave away too much of season one's arc but everything was perfect.

Looked decent. Her costume was pretty cheesy looking though.

Looking good. Bec looks like she step out the comic pages. Cool Costume.
Also nice seeing Geoff Johns in the Crisis Aftermath show.

I know that's a CW specific commercial, but not even a shoutout to DC Universe. Like "airing first (a day early) on DC Universe." Nothing.

Oh wait, look who showed up to the DC Universe office Xmas party:

I give them props for the pretty accurate Dr. Mid-Nite and Hourman costumes (and of course Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E.), but that Wildcat/Yolanda mask is CW all the way.

Have we seen the original JSA yet besides Starman? These are all the legacy character (plus the Injustice Society).

I knew about this streaming series titled "Star Girl," and then I saw there was a new movie from Disney+ called "Stargirl."

So if anybody has watched the Disney+ movie. Now imagine me watching that and wondering, "When does she start having superpowers?"

There's a letter from showrunner Geoff Johns circulating on social media about Stargirl. I'm sure the first season will be pretty good, he's put his heart and soul into it. I worry more about season two and beyond, when the budget is 100% getting slashed.

This going to TheCW basically killed ANY desire to watch this. I'll probably check out season 1, but it really sounds like it's going to take a massive dump with season 2.

This is up on DC Universe today.

It will be on The CW tomorrow. Since I no longer have DC Universe, I'll be checking it out tomorrow.

Did they mention if this is going to be some kind of uncut version on DC Universe or is it really just a useless one day lead over the CW so they can claim they didn't screw subscribers over when they called it an exclusive way back when?

There is about 8 mins cut out of each of the 1st two eps for time issues on CW.

Oh, interesting. I guess that's from back when this wasn't supposed to run on a network and be subject to those time constraints? I'll try to watch it today with the kids.

I enjoyed it. The high school parts are kinda TV cringy, but the heart always seemed to be in the right place. As half century long fan of the JSA and a fan of Stargirl/STRIPE, I was looking forward to this and it did not disappoint me. The Cosmic Staff was particularly well executed an designed.

They changed the Cosmic Staff quite a bit, even though it was always kind of a deus ex machina anyway... but treating it as semi sentient was the right choice.

Kids and I loved it, though like you I'm very biased as a huge fans of the (original) Seven Soldiers of Victory, Infinity Inc, the JSA, and Geoff Johns and James Robinson/David Goyer's treatment of them. That opening was great. I'm not looking forward to it becoming "CW'd" over time but I'm hoping the initial season is good.

That secret identity is blown, though. Even though I'm sure they'll resolve this particular issue with

if it wasn't being secretly run by the Injustice Society... great place to move the kids and family you're trying to keep safe, Stripesy. Way to disguise that car.

Yep - read an interview with, I think Berlanti, that they had to get it to 42 minutes to run on CW. Just the first two eps and there were scenes that were cut with careful consideration.
I don't think I get CW, I'll have to watch this on the CW app tomorrow.
Looking forward to it, I picked up some Stargirl/Stars and STRIPE TPBs from Ollies when they had them and really liked the characters and tone of the books, and I like the JSA.

Well, I hope you don't like the JSA that much...

I really enjoyed the Pilot. Lead actress is good. The Cosmic Staff is pretty damn cool as a sentient weapon/tool. STRIPE is cool. Pat/Wilson is a good character and I'm looking forward to his role in this.

I'm kind of amazed they actually built a semi functioning robot for STRIPE (though they use CGI in some scenes). That budget is going away, far away.

Re: Stargirl (CW/DC Universe) -- from EP: Johns, Berlanti -- premieres 5/18/20

That was great. I really enjoyed, Brec was really good as the lead. And I liked Luke Wilson as Starman’s sidekick and now being the stepdad and reluctant teacher to Courtney. It was a really fun start. It does look like they spent a lot on this first episode.

The robot at the end was pretty cool. I’m totally in for this. If you watch on The CW app, they have some behind the scenes material.

The production value on this is great. Makes the "real" CW shows look like shit in comparison. The main street of the show looks like it is Danny the Street from Doom Patrol. I will definitely be watching all of these.

The production values will obviously take a big hit when it gets renewed. I really like the cast, they did a great job fitting each actor to their role. I hope this show doesn't get lost in the wake of the Batwoman news.
